Why the damned hell do people not want to work?
No one would cover the shift last night for a lost employee (he quit - basically unable to do the job) and the boss ended up closing the new store alone. Lost customers because it got busy and he's only one person.
I have now had a total of THREE people not show for their first shift. Two have not showed for their interview. The asshole from workplace developement has not returned my call so we can place a job listing with them. Everyone responing to the newspaper ad either doesn't return calls, or lives 50+ miles from the store.
Today, I have a 17 yo who can't make her shift due to pink-eye. It's understandable. But there is no one whatsoever to cover her shift. I don't have anyone left.
Someone, please, send me some damned applicants who can read and write English, and don't expect $20 an hour to make smoothies.
