A heck of a week.

Well, not everything that's happened this week is appropriate for lj, but it's been interesting. Here's some stuff I can openly share ;-)
[EDIT: That sounds wrong and inaccurate. There were some issues that involved others that are being resolved.]

My classes worked out pretty darn well. I'm taking Chem 215 (Honors General and Inorganic), Math 192 (2nd Semester Calculus for Engineers), ChemE/EngrI 115 (Introduction to Chemical Engineering, pretty good so far), Engl 270.03 (The Reading of Fiction, aka bs'ing about details), PE: Introduction to Sailing (lots of fun so far), EngrG 150 (Introduction to Engineering, meeting with the advisee group doing various random pointless generally fun things).
Sunday 2-5pm Sailing
Monday 9-10 Math Lecture
Monday 12:20-1 Chemistry Lecture
Monday 2:30-3:30 Math Section
Tuesday 9-10 ChemE Intro Lecture
Tuesday 10-11 EngrG 150
Tuesday 11:40-1 English
Tuesday 2:30-4:30 ChemE Intro Section
Wednesday 9-10 Math Lecture
Wednesday 12:20-1 Chemistry Lecture
Wednesday 2:30-3:30 Math Section
Thursday 9-10 ChemE Intro Lecture
Thursday 11:40-1 English
Thursday 1:30-4:30 Chem Lab
Friday 9-10 Math Lecture
Friday 12:20-1 Chem Lecture

So in general, my schedule works out pretty darn well with breaks between most classes, no day too busy yet starting at 9, and generally fun classes. So far, the hardest is Chem Lab. We're doing Qual Anal, the same lab we did in Advanced Chem for the entire year, in 2 class periods. I haven't succeeded with the Group II's yet. Any tips?

Chem Lecture on the other hand was about equilibrium, but now acids and bases. At any rate, it's all review, but at least the teacher is a good lecturer, much better for the sleep ;-)

Math is pretty bad. We're doing vectors. It used to be stuff I knew from Physics (vectors), and turned into random vectors stuff. My teacher (also a prof) is horrible. She can't teach, seems unsure of herself, confuses herself, is not good at speaking English (we think she's Indian), etc.

English is fun. My teacher is like Ms. Hobbs in eccentricity; much fun. I wrote a page and a half or 2 on 1 sentence the other day.

Sailing is kicking major buttocks. We have our second class later today (2 pm), so should be fun. Ryan (see pics on my site) is my sailing buddy, and we're taking a boat out just the two of us during class.

Intro to Chem E is really interesting so far. The idea is to figure out how to do chemical reactions in a factory basically, and all the implications of that. Definitely my cup of tea.

The Jewish stuff is rockin' too. There are regular kosher meals right near my dorm, and then also right near the engineering quad at the Center for Jewish Living, containing a dining hall, beis medresh (library), and beis tfilah (sanctuary) as well as rooms for upperclassmen (in general). I'll prolly spend Rosh Hashana there though. Good stuff. I've been spending my Friday nights and Saturdays there while still sleeping here, and it's been working out dandily.

The social stuff is good in general. A friend has Latin and Israeli dancing for PE, so with a couple other friends, we went to that last Wednesday night and had a blast. I knew the Israeli dances, and Ti, who lived for a bunch of years in Brazil, knew a bunch of the non-Israeli dances.

I have to try to crank out some more English stuff and get some sleep, so hopefully I'll try to fill everyone in again in a bit. In the meantime, check out some Cornell pics. http://www.livefire.org/banshee/pics/cornell-bell-tower/ or something like that.
