A Night On The Arts Quad

Well, a lot has happened and I'm tired, so I'll just give you the rundown of my day today. I woke up around 9:15 due to my cell phone, which was my cousin saying he was sending me my suit coat that I had left at his house in White Plains, NY. I rolled over afterwards and got woken 15 minutes later by my alarm clock, ate some cereal, and went down to Olin Hall (20 min walk) on the far side of the Arts quad for my introductory advisor meeting. That went well, and I came back here afterwards, dumping my bookbag and meeting a Chinese girl named Ti (Zhao, hehe, and pronounced Tea) at Noyes for lunch, which is also really far (30 min walk) down the hill from the Arts quad. Noyes was a lot nicer but smaller than Purcell and Appel, the 2 major dining halls near my dorm. Then Ti went to her advisor meeting, and I found the DVD section of the grad library (major check, hehehe) and checked out Donnie Darko before returning to my room. Here, I played my roomate, Kene (pronounced Kenny), in a game of chess. It was pretty even until I gave him my queen (by accident), and of course things went downhill from there. I think he beat me within 10 moves afterwards (not too good). He was pretty good, although a little worse than me I think. That was just a really dumb mistake I made. Then I went over to the Ag quad (Agriculture, 15 min walk) for a group discussion about Frank Kafka's The Trial which all incoming students had to read, but we were late and then couldn't find the room. We found it eventually, and I had some great BS pulled out of interesting orafices. After that, I came back to my room, and Kene and I checked our mail and went over to Rakel (Indian, raised in Kuwait at a French school, speaks with an English accent) and Maria's (Russian) room at HILC (Holland International Living Center), finding Ti there too, trying to get her schedule together from having 1 credit to a more sensible schedule, hehe. Maria left to an OL (Orientation Leader) meeting, and Kene, Rakel, Ti, and I went to Purcell for dinner, finding Tim and Chrisne (suitemates) there, and later Matt and Jasmine as well (suitmate and next-door sister-suite cool personage). That's everyone in our suite except for Alex (aka Dess) plus Ti, Rakel, and Jasmine. Rakel went to her peer advisor meeting downstairs before long, and we had a nice long dinner. Matt, Chrisne, and Tim went back before the rest of us though, and then Jasmine had to meet some people she was hanging with for the night in Collegetown (45 min or so). Kene, Rakel and I went back, Kene going back to the room, and Ti and I hanging around the walkways around here, with Ti talking to her parents a bunch (yes, in Chinese with English thrown in Heather ;-) ), and we called Rakel to get her to come to some random comedy/education performance, eventually meeting Kene (with a friend) and Maria there. Jeremy (random dude) also came, and I saw Christina (one of Jasmine's suitemates) go in as well, but she didn't end up saving seats for us. Eh. Afterwards, we went back to our various rooms, me taking out my contacts, dumping my jacket ('cause it was pretty warm tonight), and meeting them all back in between the dorms. Rakel wanted to go to sleep, so Jeremy, Maria, Ti, and I went to the Arts quad to watch movies that they were playing outside and found 50 First Dates around the middle of the movie (I think). That was pretty good, and definitely made me think. Then we went to Willard Straight Hall (really old Student Union) on the far side of the quad looking for some coffeehouse where some orientation stuff socialing was supposed to be happening, but they closed up shop a little bit before we got there because there wasn't any participation. Very sad. At any rate, we went to the back of Willard Straight, and since it's on a big hill, the ground level on the front is the 3rd floor on the back. We stood there for a bit, and then went into Collegetown to Collegetown Bagels. I got tea and a taste of some fake non-dairy cheesecake the Maria and Ti were splitting. We sat there for a while (until 2) talking, eating, and drinking, and then made it back here. I went up to Ti's room to get my mail I had left there before dinner, and we talked for a half hour or so, and here I am in my room since 3:45 or so.

So yeah, check all that, one day. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were like that too. Hehe.
