Net weekend away...

Started in a slightly stressed manner when I found all the work I hadn't done that had to be done for the first day back, so some manic marking happened on Friday morning, and then the rest were taken with me to be dealt with over the weekend. Then as anticipated I was called to see if I could be collected early than arranged so that JG would sleep in the car, he was refusing to have an afternoon nap - The excitement of going away I suspect.

So off we headed, we only missed the final left turn into the youth hostel so it was pretty easy to find compared with the one at Loch Tay last year. Once we had arrived and unloaded the car it was time to head into Moffat for a cup of tea and a toasted teacake - we knew dinner wasn't going to be until after 8 and as the first to arrive and there wasn't any milk for the tea in the hostel place.

On re-arriving at the hostel I was handed DS with the comment "just the person, have a baby" :D. I did get lots of cuddles during the weekend one happy tigger. Over the weekend there were 17 adults and 7 children under the age of 6. It wasn't the quietest of weekends, but it was fun.

Saturday we managed to get a convoy of 6 cars to the same car park, and all set for a walk. We had missed the car park we had meant to go to so we ALL walked to the top of the Grey Mare's waterfall. This was a very steep path, with an almost sheer drop at times to the left hand side. I was VERY impressed that the littlest legs of AS and WG both made it to the top of the waterfall. From here a smaller number of people headed on to Loch Skeen, and an even smaller number continued up the hill to look down on the Loch. All in all a good day was had and when we finally made it back to the hostel the peace and quiet was lovely - I even managed to get my marking done before snoozing on a sofa waiting for the return of the rest and the news that dinner was ready. After dinner we played the name game. As usual I ended up laughing until I was nearly ill. I didn't think AS could surpass his "acting" of Mercedes the polar bear last sept when he bit AP on the knee... Well he was attempting to "act" Willie Wonka". We were hysterical, I am sure he had longer for the round than anyone else just because the timers were laughing too much!

Sunday was much quieter, I had lovely cuddles from AGi in the morning, and a slow start to the day (after 9+ hours sleep) before heading along the river for a walk and then back to the hostel to check everything was packed before lunch and an outing to the park. A park which had a dragon pedal-lo boat much to AS's delight, and then his mum managed to arrange for the whole family to go on it. Where they were swiftly chased by M-AP and AE on a swan. All in all a good weekend, but I was very tired due to fresh air overload by the time I got back to Edinburgh at 5.30pm. I finished the weekend with the service at BV and catching up with the silly-ness.
