Spare a moment for the people of Pakistan...

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and a restful Boxing Day (for those that celebrate it!!)
Our family went out to a rainforest region about an hours drive from our home, and had a relaxing day at waterfalls and picnic spots with some family friends - I had some good laughs with my cousin and some friends, so that was nice. :)

What are you laughing at? *stern face and then giggles alongside you*
Heya Kallie. It's been... days.
WOW. xD

I don't think I know enough to comment any which way, really - Bhutto and Musharraf have both done terrible things in their time in office. But I feel for the people of Pakistan - they've been tearing themselves apart in the 60-odd years they've been an "independent" nation, and things just aren't getting any better.

I respect that opinion - it's so rare in the modern political climate. And you're right - any sort of political change has to be instituted by the native people themselves, otherwise it's just interference and arrogance. The problem is that no country can fix themselves independently anymore - other countries, such as the US, have had a big hand in causing this sort of stuff for their own economic/political gain. It just makes me so cynical, you know?
This kind of chaos is good for business for some people.

Haha, true. But perhaps more like a stepmother and a daughter, who only wants to get out of what
I was talking to another friend about this (she's American) and she said that all countries do this, which is possibly true - but then don't be hypocritical and demand they "end the tyranny of the people and return democracy", y'know?
*headdesks*
Sometimes I feel like I never know enough about anything to even SAY anything, let alone do it. I mean - one person can't even FIND out much about what's really happening, let alone do anything about it. [Did that make any sense? I doubt it - my head's spinning and my fingers typing too fast]

That's true - if you start something in any field of life, responsibility can always be traced back to you and you often have to pay the price.

Oh, by the way - forgot to add: READ The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. It's a fantastic novel for both English and History students - it's not, perhaps, the most "page-turning" novel, but it's... yeah, just make sure you check it out.
