Cleaning out your room sucks. Badly.
As do ants crawling on my desk, and ineffective bug spray which makes me gag.
*grumbles*
So I finally got my butt off my armchair and saw Bizarro on YouTube. It was much better than I had expected, but this show still needs a lot of work to get it to what it could be.
Awesome parts:
- The filming - cinematography, whatever you call it. My favorite scene would have to be Lex walking in the jail cell during the song montage - the way the light flickered over him (light, dark, light) was absolutely beautiful and a great representation of his character and emotions during the episode. Kara’s first appearance in the water was also beautiful.
- The subtle Superman hint (I think I heard the music, but I'm not sure) when Clark rescued the little boy and then gave him a pleased, shy little nod and took off. That was so cute.
- Clark's fear and anger when he heard of Chloe's "death" - it seemed like the most real part... I think he was just expecting his best friend to support and comfort and praise him, especially after Lana's death - and when he got the sudden realization that she might not be around to do that, he freaked out and lost control. I would've liked that scene to be extended, if only to satisfy my Chlark yearnings. LOL.
- The song montage in general was really well done - they tend to be quite a TV cliché, but Sober is a beautiful song and it was helpful in reminding the audience of all that had happened in the rather hectic episode.
- The dialogue in this was good - they touched some key points about Clark and his destiny, and Chloe’s comment about “nature vs. nurture” was excellent. At times it could have been more subtle, but… *shrugs* At least it was there.
What the HELL moments:
- Lana's wig. Her general appearance. I think that has got to take the cake. Has their budget come down or something, because seriously... ??? It looked like something Britney Spears would wear and was much more likely to make her stand out in Shanghai (!!) that her usual silky brown hair.
- The part where Clark completely vaporizes an entire dam’s worth of water. Um, drought, anyone? Did he just knock out a whole town’s water and irrigation supply?
- Bizarro flirting with Lois - that was just… weird. Funny, but weird. And I still can’t see much chemistry between EDLois and Clark. I could just be ignoring it, but… nah.
- The fact that Clark defeated Bizarro in about two minutes - I think they tried to cram too much into the episode. I’m not one for big *pow pow* superhero action scenes, but it was a bit too “blink and you’ll miss it” for me. The sunlight idea was cool - if a little random. You’d have thought Clark would’ve worked that one out already, but…
Hopes:
- Lots and lots more Chloe. As I told
impalalove , she's practically the only reason I'm still watching.
- More of a character study into Lex Luthor. Give Michael something fun to do before he goes.
- A movement more toward Clark’s destiny and superhero qualities and less on teenage angst and “girl next door” relationship troubles. Seriously.
Also saw (yeah, finally) - Children Shouldn’t Play With Dead Things. *sigh* 13 days to go. J
- Jensen Ackles has some great comedic timing - I really hope they have more of that and perhaps a little bit less angst (because Sam will probably be angsting enough for the both of them).
“Awkward”. Genius.
- Kripke will have to be very careful in his choice of guest stars, because they can be so important to an episode sometimes. Neal let this one down a tad, but the overriding angst about their parent’s deaths and Dean’s guilt helped overshadow that.
- I love the fact that some of the brother’s core morals can slide when it comes to protecting each other - what happened to “what’s dead should stay dead”? I want to know what Sam feels after his resurrection…
And one final thing... snagged from
clarksmuse. What's on my desktop? Why don't you guess... *evil grin* Credit for this wallie goes to
