College Life

Coming to Wayne state I had no idea what to expect. I had no friends living on campus like I was, I had no expectations and no idea what the classes would be like. Now I have completed my first full week (minus Monday, which doesn't make it a full week! psh, who cares) and I couldn't be more happy.

Honestly I don't remember when i was this happy before. In middle school I started dating Ryan and things went down hill from there. I lost friends I gained bad friends and I lost a lot of myself with him. That lasted all throughout about junior year of high school, and then finally senior year I felt a little more in control of myself and my friends and my life. Things were better my senior year but really not anything like this. I can't even begin to describe how happy I am.

I came to Wayne state with one thing in mind...be true to myself. I'm majoring in dance (of all things I choose that? YEAH!), and I'm making my friends in my dance classes by being myself. My real focus when being her is of course doing well in school but I didn't imagine I would have this much fun but still staying on course. (I know what your thinking, it's only the first week, you still got a whole semester/year to go through) Yeah, that may be true but when you hear about my classes you'll know what I mean.

On Monday's, Wednesday's, And Fridays:

I have Theatre which is a complete blow off class. I know all my drama dorks may be insulted by this but check this out. She gave us homework to read the first chapter in my book. When I did this I chose to be smart and take notes at the same time. Then in lecture the next day we met she pretty much stated her notes which were almost word for word like mine. As long as I read the book and take my own notes I don't have to take notes in class! PS THERES NO FINAL

After theatre I have English which is probably my hardest class. My professor is kinda physco but I love that about him. He scares me slightly but what he says we're covering in class is all things I love, like poetry. Oh, and did I mention, We'll be watching The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Will and Grace. We'll also be watching Dane Cook and Robin Williams, and Dave Chappelle. We're covering comedies is what he said. I litterally thought it was a joke, but no, I'm being completely serious! oh yeah...THERES NO FINAL

Then I have modern. I'm not really into modern but I'm willing to let loose and try something new. Ray is my professor and he's awesome! Today we sat outside and talked about life as a dancer and my butt got a little wet but it was great! A nice way to start the year. And also, my final consists of dancing for a video camera...not too shabby!

Lastly on those days I have CompanyOne rehearsals...I'm sure you've been dying to hear about these! Well let me just tell you....I LOVE IT! I look forward to it every day and I wish it was everyday! Class usually goes from 4-8 (yes, FOUR hours!) but on fridays they go from 4-6. Our show is called Dance Africa Detroit. It'll be a show with african style dance and a little hip hop...yes, I did say hip hop. Not one of my specialties but I'm LOVING it. I practice just about every free moment I have because I really want to participate in the hip hop but it's definitely going to take some practice. I've gotten really close with Alex too. He's the only straight guy in the dance program and he's really cool. Other than how much I love the class, theres nothing really to tell you. You'll have to come see a show!

On Tuesday's, and Thursdays:

On tuesdays I have pilates first thing in the morning. We only have that once a week but I'll definitely need it. I'm also thinking about taking another class in the gym to get stronger. I'm definitely feeling my muscles working but I like the feeling and I want MORE! lol. Also, THERES NO FINAL!

Next is Ballet II. This class is my hardest dance class by far! I get picked on a lot in it but I love it. I actually hate being picked on during, but afterwards I realize I need this criticism so I'll take whatever I can get. I've also heard that if they pick on you, they believe you can make it. So bring it on! And I believe theres no final for that, but don't quote me on it!

Lastly I have Improvisation. I thought this class would be sooo weird, and i was completely right. But I LOVE it!!!! Its definitely opening up my horizons and I'm really learning how to just MOVE my body...not care what people think of me, and I think I was the one who really got everyone comfortable with looking like an idiot! Once they saw that I didn't care, they didn't care. It's such a silly class but it's another one of my favorites. And the best thing ever...NO FINAL!

As you can see my life here is going AMAZING! I love all my new dance friends. I love all my classes, and I love my professors, mainly because of the final thing (I'm sure you noticed a pattern!) As for those of you who are currently still reading this...that's sad...why? I'm glad your interested in my life and everything, but um...don't you think that's a little stalkerish? HAHA no, I'm just kidding! I appreciate that you're interested about my life in college! I hope you enjoyed all that...I'm sure you didn't but maybe my next entry will be a little more interesting!

And on that note...I will say what my good friend Tino would say from "The Weekenders"

Later Days!
