So it turns out you can refer to my satellite by any of four names: COTSAT, LCRRS, CheapSat, or ERE. Pick one, we haven't.
For the dose of weekend fun, today I had to hunt down values of inrush current for a lot of parts we are planing on flying. I didn't even mention we'd be flying them and one engineer replied "please assure me you are not planing on flying this" since the @nasa.gov email gives it away that we're doing something space related. I had to laugh since that should become our motto around here. We take things that shouldn’t fly and fly them. I’m pretty sure I gave the engineer heart failure when I told him we were flying the item in space. Oh well, all in a day’s work.
Our other joke is that all documents need a star of “if COTSAT reaches orbit, if not, revert to heat safe mode”. At least we take the small chance we have of making it to orbit lightly. Our best guess is 50% at the moment.
