June is almost half way over. Eesh. Getting home was madness as always. I was sick as a dog, packing, and dealing with life.
Got home, slept a week to get over the sinus infection from hell (TM).
Spent the next week running around Dallas like a mad woman.
Work is now consuming my life during the week since teaching is a sport. How do you keep 23 kids paying attention, on task, and not killing each other? Patience and Understanding keep coming to mind. There were the requisite fights, he was mean to me, and annoying ones, but everyone made it. I taught rocketry last week, which provided its own entertainment. Being left in the room alone with 18 middle school aged boys was part of it. Another part of it was the stupid things I managed to do including holding a rocket engine in a leather man and lighting it, using less than foot long wires and a battery ignite the engines, putting a C engine in a rocket meant for use with an A engine, among many. I had a moment where I needed to remember "stop, drop, and roll" since I was afraid I'd be catching on fire when sparks shot out the back of one engine, but all was ok.
This week is Chemistry in the morning, and mini battle bots and Lego stuff in the afternoon. Afternoons at Hockaday. Yeah, its weird teaching/helping out at my old school. I was questioned in the lunch line when I went to shamelessly cut in front of the kids due to my half hour lunch break. It was odd being able to be like, yeah, I work here now.
weekends are spent with Kathryn and plotting ways out of this lovely hell hole. I've also managed to contract out as a cheep child sitting (read: free). I made it to the Kenny Chesney concert this weekend, which is a story within it self.
and my car still smells like rocket engines....
