Birthday!!!
I was going to post these great pictures of the awesome decorating job that my friends did to my office. However, my computer decided to delete the critical files for the software that my phone has to use in order to upload photos. So, no photos until I reinstall the software. Boo....anywho, I can tell you in words what a great day yesterday (my birthday) was.
I came into the office and noticed that there were balloons and streamers taped all over my office door. They're quite visible from down the hallway. Well, I get to my door and Ragen and Kristen have covered the door in wrapping paper and Kristen (who deserves full credit for this next bit) spelled my name out in pixie sticks. It was quite amusing. There were balloons all over the door and a banner above the door, and streamers creating a curtain into the office. I open up my door, expecting that to be all, but no. Ragen is my office mate, so obviously has keys to get in. There are balloons taped all over my wall and filing cabinet and all over my desk. Additionally, they have wrapped my chair in crepe and also covered my desk in candy. I had a bit of a job finding my desk and chair so that I could sit down and try to study for my stats test that I had that morning.
Later in the afternoon, I found out that another of the technicians also had her birthday yesterday, so we decided to run down to Ferdinand's (the ice cream/cheese shop that is operated by the university using the milk from our dairy) to get our free ice cream. Well worth it! And then in lab meeting, we had carrot cake, yum!
Last night, a bunch of us met up at My Office (my local) and had dinner and drank. There was much revelry, some pool playing and lots of trivia. Got some cool schwag, but most importantly, had the opportunity to hang out with my friends and have a good time! It was one of the best birthdays i have had in a very long time, so mucho thanks go out to everyone that made it so! Turning 23 wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, thank goodness for being the baby in the group. :-D
