Well today was full of surprises, but the last was the most unpleasant. Not only did a little surrogate baby not make it to term, now Ben's wife is having heart complications. Sad. Praying hard now.
1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
Wow. Uhm. Well I went to Ireland which entailed a lot of stuff I"d never done before. I went on a trip on my own, without my family. I flew on a plane by myself, and then also for 8 hours. I didn't get sick not sleeping in my own bed. I drank. Yes, drank. I stayed out until 2am, then rode a bus back and FELL ASLEEP on the bus. (never fallen asleep in a moving vehicle, ever.) So then I got home and got a couple 300 dollar phone bills....never done that before. I've been kissed! #^_^# 27 years in the making. Other than all that...I can't think of anything. man, that's a lot.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't make them because I know I won't do them and I don't need to give myself more fail.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not yet. XD
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Not that I know of...though I haven't heard from Celine in a really long time...Oh wait! My aunt Paula, that I didn't even know about until two weeks or something, after her funeral. (way to fail dad...way to fail) And my Grandpa passed this year too.
5. What countries did you visit?
Ireland. :D
6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
A job that doesn't make me want to run screaming when I walk in the door.
7. What dates from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
April 4th: last blast in Belfast and July 4th: 'official' start of Erik and I.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I don't think I really achieved anything. Except for beating the whole getting sick if I'm out too long or if I travel thing. I guess that counts.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Rarg. I have so many. So so so many.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I did get sick a lot this year. Just the usual cold type things.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
The XBox, a couple of nasty phone bills, a new phone, I think that's it. I didn't have much to spend this year. Oh, a hella lot of yarn. XD
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Timber: My roommate Sparks. :3 So proud of her. Also all my friends for being there and listening to me whine and whine and whine. (just had to leave that up to say...awww...thankies. *snuggles*)
Timber, because she handled some nasty stuff pretty well, not just with her health but a sticky situation with an old friend. Really, not being angry is so commendable in that scenario.
Erik, because he knew exactly how to be careful and not hurt me but take care of me when I needed it most. He's also starting to do and not do many things he's been used to for years.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
First and foremost...MY FRIGGEN COMPANY! die in a flaming ball of death! *grumbles*
Yeah...the other is something I don't even want to go into. *sighs*
14. Where did most of your money go?
Well, I think I lost most of it in Ireland and then when I got back on phone bills of doom. Other than that, food, new glasses, dentist, yarn...god lots and lots of yarn...
15. What are you really, really, really excited about?
erm...I dunno. Not much planned for the up coming year. No exciting trips. Hell at this point I'm just looking forward to a few days off.
16. What song will always remind you of 2009?
I have to agree with Timber on the Lady Gaga. XD It played such a weird part in the year.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Uhm...I dunno. I'm going to guess that I'm sadder thanks to work.
b) thinner or fatter? Bah. Either thinner or the same. Stupid stress...*grumbles*
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Draw or write. I didn't do either this year, talk about epic fail.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
worrying. I worry about anything and everything under the sun.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
With my roomie and my Kitteh and then with my fam. :D
21. What was your favorite month of 2009?
March. I was in Ireland then.
22. Did you fall in love in 2009?
Yeah, a few too many times for my own good.
23. How many one-night stands?
None thankfully.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Leverage. :3 I agree! And Glee...I'm stupidly addicted.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I really truely hate my company. I think last year I just disliked them. This year, I hate them.
26. What was the best book you read?
Now I have to remember what I read?? Gah...I dunno. The gunslinger books were good. So was the funky Alice one. Uhmm...I can't remember what others I read.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Musical discovery? Erm...The Noisettes?
28. What did you want and get?
Someone that really does love me (I hope)
29. What did you want and not get?
A new freaking job.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
District 9 and Avatar are a close call for me.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Erm. Is it bad that I don't remember my birthday?
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A new job. And some inspiration to do art or write.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
Fashion. ha! I have no fashion.
34. What kept you sane?
My roommate, Erik and oddly...facebook.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
You know...I don't know. I am still kind of enamoured with Duke Special but I wouldn't say I fancy him.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
I know it's bad but I try to ignore politics. It just makes people cranky.
37. Who did you miss?
My brother. I didn't get to see him at all this year. :(
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Uh, well I guess the only new people I met were Celine's mom, Gavin and Paul. So Irish bar tenders for the win.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009.
You can't control everything, sometimes it's nice to let someone else do the worrying. Going with the flow, will not kill you. XD
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
Man. Uhm. *thinks and smoke comes out her ears*
"I've got a heart full of rubber bands, that keep getting caught on things." - Butterfly Boucher, Another White Dash.
Thought I'd pull out a Snow Patrol song didn't ya? hehe. :D
