Woo, sick kid is sick. She's staying home from h.s. today. So now I'm up, only to call school and find that she really does need a note when she comes back--they don't do phone calls, because they can never tell who's on the phone. Not really a bad practice when it comes down to it, but it does annoy me that I'm not done with the bullcrap yet

How do they tell who wrote the note?

I have no idea. I hand-wrote it and stuck it in an envelope, and they accepted it. Maybe they have stuff written by parents on hand? Good question nonetheless.
