I'm madly in love with the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack. Why oh why can't the movie be released in Germany before I leave? I so want to see it again.

On Thursday night I saw a middle-aged man on the U2 metro line. This would be utterly unremarkable except for the socks he was wearing. They were plain black . . . except for the word THURSDAY in bright blue around the cuff. Made my night.

It looks like I may actually be able to ship most of my stuff back to California in a single 20-kg box. As soon as I don't have to take furniture into account, my life here in Germany all of a sudden fits into less than a cubic meter, which is pretty great. I'll have to look at my packing strategy again once Steph gets here with my backpack, mattress, and sleeping bag, but this looks a lot more promising than I feared. Hip hip huzzah!

I found out my dorm assignment last night: I'm living in Kimball Hall next year. It's the arts-themed dorm, so it has good pianos (but heavy competition for them), and it's where my friend Lauren lives, so I feel quite lucky. I was really hoping to get back into Haus Mitt, but you can't have everything in life, hm? I can start enrolling in classes on Monday. It's going to be quite weird to be taking Stanford classes again for the first time in a year. And what a year it's been, too.

It's strange not to live with Hákon and Hildur anymore. I have to say I miss our "family dynamic" quite a bit. We had some good, good times.

kimball, friends, travel, slumdog, socks, berlin
