I got the most amazing books from the library! Two tomes and a slim volume, all about the veil metaphor that I'm writing my honors thesis about. Mighty exciting.
My brain hurts from writing about Schubert, though. I'm working on a presentation about his six settings of Heine poems, and the prospect of not only speaking for 15-20 minutes in class, but quite probably singing in class to demonstrate some of my points - in German, mind you - is mildly terrifying. Also, I'm behind on my reading for two of my other classes thanks to my recent I-haz-internet-gasm all the time I've been spending on this project. And I have two presentations to give next week, neither of which I have started on, and both of which will require library research - and this weekend is a rehearsal weekend in my orchestra, which means I have only Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon to get other things done.
The good news is that:
a) the Schubert project is actually fun, and the songs and poems are really rewarding
b) after the hell of this coming week, I have only one more presentation to give this entire quarter - a short one in early December
c) I successfully dropped one of my classes today - the seminar on Fathers and Sons in literature ca. 1900. The texts were interesting, the classes were not, and I couldn't be bothered to spend an entire day training back and forth to Potsdam for something as unrewarding as that.
Fact of the evening: I need to go to bed.
