Quick academic etiquette question:

In June 2006 I submitted an article to a journal. After that time the journal switched institutions and editors. They have now contacted me to remind me that they only take submissions from subscribers. I don't recall this policy having been mentioned at the time I submitted my article originally (the website certainly has been redesigned), although I may be wrong. The question is, is there any way I can politely withdraw my submission at this point, or am I basically out the $90? (It's not a journal in my primary field, and I'm really not interested in subscribing - and for what it's worth, I think it very unlikely the article would get accepted.)
