Week recap
Hey! Where did my week go?
Last weekend, we accomplished a good start on the Deck project.
Saturday, with the help of my MIL & FIL, more of the yard was mowed, and the railings from the deck removed in preparation for Sunday. Sliding door upstairs has a safety barricade to prevent any falls if the door up there is opened (in case the duct tape is breached by kids)
Dog run was moved out of the garage into the yard. (HEY....who'd a thought you could have open space in a garage?)
Sunday, despite the morning drizzle I had several wonderful friends show up and the deck was disassembled in less than 4 hours, and stacked in a couple places in the yard. Sadly ,and frighteningly, I might add, probably 50% of the deck I thought I would be repurposing to other things in the yard had enough dryrot that it is landfill-bound. I was planning to replace the entire deck anyway, but its very disturbing to see a joist that was not really accessible practically explode when it was hammered on. Oh well, it is no longer a risk.
Next steps are to prepare the ground for the deck foundation & apply for permits.
