Author's Note: It was quite late at night, but I had a plot bunny, and had to write it down. The result being this here ficlet. It's kind of sad, I suppose, depends on the way you look at it.
It's never until after that you really know. Never until it's too late.
I realize now that, even though you're still here, you're so far away. I want to take you with me, Sam, for you to be with me, forever and always, until there's no more tomorrow. To always be right by my side, as you have been for so long. I want to be able to feel your skin on my skin, your lips against mine. I want it, Sam... but I can't have it.
I'm in love with you Sam, so deep in love I can barely breathe - and I've realized it too late. Nothing can be done about it now, and it drives me mad. You're out of my reach, Sam. Just out of my reach where I can't touch you. I'm not me without you, Sam, I'm just an empty shell, with nothing to do but sit back and watch as my life gets left behind.
I want to hold on to you and never let go, but I know I have to say goodbye. But we'll meet again, my dear Sam, somewhere along the road, I'm sure of it. Someday we will, someday. Until then I'll wait for you.
Because I'm nothing without my Sam.
