Mmmmmm....sauce

I had dinner with dear friends AF and CH tonight, and they shared with me a recipe that some of their friends had made for them way back in the day (10 years ago, now!) ... and I absolutely loved it and thus feel the need to tell you all about it RIGHT NOW.

Our meal was pretty simple - rice/quinoa mix from the rice cooker, steamed broccoli florets, steamed carrot and sweet potato chunks, and roasted tempeh slices. The sauce was a condiment - I put a dollop of it on my plate and dipped everything else into it, mixing the remainder with the rice. I wanted to keep eating just the plain sauce out of the bowl, I liked it so much, but I thought it would be rude and I didn't want to set a bad example for the bean as she learns her table manners!

So here it is. AF doesn't quite measure the ingredients anymore - and once I make this one or two times, I'm sure I won't either!

Almond Butter Sauce
2 TBSP almond butter
1 TBSP soy sauce
1-2 gloves garlic (minced)
1 TBSP sesame oil
1-2 tsp grated ginger
Citrus sauce (4 TBSP soy sauce, 2-3 TBSP lemon juice*, 2-3 TBSP vinegar**)

Mix all together in a food processor and enjoy!

*half lemon and half lime juice also works well
**half rice vinegar and half white vinegar works well
