Tiger? I was thinking that, after recent events, maybe we should get out of the smial for a bit. Do you want to see our pirating ship on Bywater Pond? I know I wouldn't mind some time spent on the water.

There are some life vests in that locker, if you want one. We don't have to take the ship out on to the pond if you don't want to.

*walks to the side of the boat and looks out over the water* It's good to be back.

Am now on board the biggest ship I've ever seen in my life!

Oh, why of COURSE we have to take this ship out! No harm can possibly come to us in a POND! Can it?

But I confess--I've never been in any water other than the all-too-frequent occasional water trap on a golf course. You might have to tell me what to do.

The last time I was on the pond, I was attacked by the Dol Amrothian swans. *nods* Bloodthirsty fowl, they are. Bloodthirsty. But easily shooed away with a broom. I think they're busy elesewhere today.

*smiles back* You seem happier, also. I'm glad.

Are you ready to set sail? Give me a minute to untie the mooring ropes.

Had I known swans could be deterred by objects such as brooms, I would have brought my golf clubs along as protection. But as you say, the swans are nowhere in sight.

*feels gentle rocking motion of ship as boat leaves dock, smiles*

No wonder you enjoy the water, Isengar. Such peace, such tranquility! I feel the wind in my face and a calmness in my heart.

*looks down into depths of pond*

How deep IS this water? I thought, being a pond, I would be able to see all the way down to the bottom. But I can't. Oh well, it probably doesn't matter.

*grips rail of ship tightly since he's not used to being on a boat*

There are geese about, but I don't think they'll be a problem.

*smiles* Now you know what I hear when I sleep and don't have nightmares - it's a subtle but strong song, is it not?

*thinks* I'm not sure how deep this pond is. Many, many feet, though. I've seen seas where the water's so clear you can see to the bottom, but the bottom is farther away than it seems.

How are you doing? It takes a few minutes to get used to the movement of the boat.

The geese are very pretty. As long as they don't start spelling words out in the air, we should be fine.

I do hear a subtle song, Isengar. But you've had much practice at listening to the sound of the sea. I'm only a beginner and I need to listen harder.

Oddly enough, my stomach seems all right. And I can walk just fine, since the water's calm.

So what does one do while on board a ship? Surely there's work to be done. And you must also have leisure time to sing and play cards and tell tales!

*glances up at the main mast* There's rigging work to be done, but I can do it. If you want, you can look around below deck and see if there's anything food or ale. When we get out to the middle of the pond, we'll drop anchor, I think.

It's very good to get away, yes. I love the peace and solitude out here. I'll go below deck and see if I can find anything to eat.

*scrambles down stairs, looks around for food*

Hmmm...Found some fruit. But it looks as if it's been here a while. *continues searching*

Oh, here's some strawberries! They look safe to eat. And with these bottles of ale we have a good beginning.

*shouts up to Isengar* I found some food! I'll keep looking!
