So, I tried posting this and got halfway through when I clicked the backspace and my computer literally went back to the last page and it deleted all that I have. Anyway, here is what I have (of what I can remember):
Okay-I don't know what it is, but I am feeling a lot of love from/for the SV community lately. Maybe it's because since the 14th,
bob_radar has had this SV appreciation where fans go and thank other fans for a job well done with what they have done with this fandom. I personally think it is a marvelous idea and we really should do one of these more often. Anyway, I decided to post meme related to SV..I kinda took it from
khohen1 and I hope that she doesn't mind..Let's see if I can remember what I typed up..
25 Reason Why I Love Smallville:
In no particular order..
1. The first reason...Clark..the one and only..he is such a great character and really tries to do the right thing, even though sometimes he ends up on the other end..I love how much he cares for his friends and family and is willing to do just about anything for them..even for Lex, who he really isn't on good terms with right now (for reasons later mentioned). At the end of season three-that was when he really lost his trust with Lex..finding out that he was lying to him the whole time that they had been friends..but even after that he still tryed to defend Lex and be on amicable terms with him. In my honest opinion, Clark has given him too many chances to redeem himself, and vice versa..but anyway..he really is a great character and Tom Welling portrays him so well, in my honest opinion.
2. The second, is Red K Clark..also known as Kal..I don't know what it is about him..maybe it's because he differs so much from the 'mild-mannered' Clark we all know and love and turns into the 'I am going to do what I want, no consequences' Clark..And again, Tom plays him very well..he really puts a lot into the character and giving him that 'I don't give a damn about what you have to say, I am going to do what I want' attitude..and I absolutely love his uncut, unruly hair..I think it goes great with the character and reflects his personality a bit, his Clark's hair is always so neat and cut..I don't know how I got on the subject of hair..but anyway..there is just something (still can't quite figure it out) I love about this character.
3. Who can forget to mention Chloe? I really do love Chloe and her attitude. I remember when I first heard of the fandom, I thought she was just an annoying friend of Clark that had a somewhat unhealthy crush on him, but then I actually started watching the show, and my opinion of her changed almost immediatly. I love how she will do just about anything for her friends (especially with Clark and keeping his secret a secret)..now with Lana..that's a different story. Let's just say Chloe is very resilient when it comes to her friends. I also love Chloe for how much of a reporter she really is. She has so much curiosity, but sometimes that can put her in a bad spot (end of season 3-season 4, for example). I also love her for being such a great sidekick to Clark lately. Since she does know Clark's secret, her and him can help solve things (mainly concerning Jor-El) faster. She really has been there for him this season (in more ways than one). And who could forget that kiss she planted on him at the end of Vessel? Even though in the situation she was in, I would have done the same thing.lol.
4. I really do enjoy the Clois snark that the show brought us back in season 4. Even though some hate Lois in the SV realm, I am one of many that enjoy her being there. Their relationship is the exact opposite of what Clark and Lois should be in the comics and in Lois and Clark. When they first met they could barely stand eachother, and would make ironic remarks to one another alluding to the fact that they will one day end up together (maybe not in the SV realm, but eventually). The arguments are filled with sarcasm and so much irony that there is no way I can't like their relationship. Even though lately in season five they were more tolerable of one another, the snark was still there, and I hope it stays for a long time.
5. Clark's smile/grin..is there anything else to say about this?
6. Smallville, Kansas (also known as British Columbia, Canada): I don't know what it is about this place..maybe its the small town, the mountains or the open fields..it just looks so peaceful and serene..it looks like a great place to visit and besides...it's the place where SV is shot..who wouldn't want to go there?
7. Chloe/Clark had to be mentioned eventually..I originally didn't think of them as more than friends, but then when season five came around, I saw so much more chemistry between them, especially since Chloe spends most of her time at the DP with him.
8. Clark/Lex..wow..what can't be said about these two? The chemistry between them is amazing, quite literally. I won't explain it because it would probably take up a couple pages..but just..yea-amazing chemistry and I love how the writers finally have it set up as Lex literally being the ultimate enemy to Clark right now. Even though many fans see their relationship turning into something a little more platonic. I could definitely see it happen (in fanfics only, of course) because of the attraction between those two, even though I don't read it.
9. Tom/Michael..their chemistry with one another is what makes those two characters on number 8 so compatible. These two work so well with one another and put so much into their performances with one another. The commentaries (which will later be mentioned) are probably the funniest thingg you will hear out of both of them. Especially for the fact that Michael likes to embarass Tom every chance he gets when they go to promote something for the show.
10. Michael Rosenbaum..this guy is a great actor, and how he can play such a stoic, manipulative jerk to Clark every week is beyond me, since just about every other movie he is in he plays a cross-dresser, which is actually quite funny. This proves to me how versatile MR really is (or can be, rather). And also for the fact that he cracks me up on the SV gag-reel and commentary..he is a really funny guy and when he has Tom with him it's even better.
11. Tom Welling plays Clark so well, and I don't think anyone could have played him better. I do remember listening to the commentary and they stated that Jensen Ackles was paired against him for the part. Which is actually pretty funny since JA did eventually land a role on the show, but anyway. I think he is a great actor and how he plays the 'whole world on his shoulders' role so well and how he can go from that to Red K Kal in a matter of minutes. And when he is with Michael, he is even better. And I also put him on the list for fact that his smile is incredibly charming..:-)
12. Jonathan..what can't I say about him? He was a great role model for Clark, even though he was especially threatening to those that knew (or wanted to know) more about Clark's secret. I was incredibly sad that he died in Reckoning (and yes I did cry..). But like I have said a dozen times-I feel that the writers made the right decision on taking him off the show so Clark could see the real repecussions of his actions..his father didn't have to die if he (Clark) just did what Jor-El told him to do in Arrival. But now, thanks to Jonathan's death, Clark is finally starting to turn into the superhero we all know and love. Anyway, back to Jonathan..he had a huge impact on Clark and how Clark now views things, and for that, I have to list him.
13. Lionel..the infamous MB who is now (somewhat inhabited) by Jor-El. Just as long as he stays away from Martha (which he most likely wont do), and keeps Clark's secret a secret, I will be fine with him..I still think he has something under his sleeve though. I don't think he can be entirely innocent when it comes to Clark's secret..even though he did help him out ALOT during the last couple episodes, which I commend him for.
14. Superman references are one of the many reasons I watch this show. Instead of explaining it, since I think it's kind of self explanatory, I will list just a couple:
-Lionel: (to Lex) Luthors are not afraid. We don't have that luxury. We're leaders. You have a destiny, Lex. You're never going to get anywhere with your eyes closed.
-Jonathan: This is your destiny, son. You are going to touch the lives of so many people. Not just as a man, but as a symbol. You’re a symbol of peace. You’re a symbol of justice. And now it’s time for you to go.
15. The music is one of the many other things I like about this show. Most of the time they play songs by artists that really arn't well known, and they turn out to be great songs. Here are a couple in case any of you are interested:
"Eight Half Letters"-Stereoblis
"A Message"- Coldplay
"Life After Love"- Colored Shadows
"All The Money Or The Simple Life Honey"- Dandy Warhols
16. Another reason why I love this show is because of its family dynamics. Many shows today really don't have that family dynamic that really makes a show great to watch (and no, I don't count 7th Heaven as one of them..those situations they go through are unrealistic..yes..even compared to SV standards, in my opinion). No matter if Clark talks with his parents about being a normal teenager, or the exact opposite, they always give him advice that he goes by and follows (most of the time). Until recently that was the case, and since Jonathan died, some say that the family dynamic is missing somewhat, and I do agree with them on this level. But like I said before, maybe thats what the writers were wanting to do..to get Clark away from that area and onto the future and how we know him as. But anyway, I do think that there is still a family dynamic with Lois and a little Chloe, and Martha with Clark.
17. Pete I felt was very underrated. I was really upset when they decided to take him off of the show, but the actor Sam Jones III probably isn't too upset about it, since he has since then been in Glory Road and ER. But anyway, I loved the friendship he had with Clark. Those two got along so well and I just wish that they gave him more screen time.
18. Special guest appearances can sometimes make the episode, especially in Legacy when the amazing Christopher Reeve made a guest appearance. His character (named Virgil Swann) was actually the first person to tell Clark of his true origins and where he was from. Very fitting, in my opinion (from one Superman to the next.). Unfortunately, Christopher died on October 10th, 2004 and he was/will be greatly missed.
19. Comic-based superhero appearances I can't get enough of. I love it when the writers decide to have other future superheros enter the SV realm for an episode or two. Probably my favorite was the Flash, aka Kyle Gallner. For some weird reason, I loved his appearance more than any of the others, and that also includes Cyborg and Aquaman. I really hope he makes another appearance sometime soon.
20. Now, one of the most important reasons why I love this show..the writers. The writers are just amazing and always seem to have great ideas. I could personally never do what they do. They have such a love for superheros and they put it to good use on the show and for that I have to give them a big 'thank you' for making the show what it is today (and still going strong after five years). And sure, they can have their bad days where they make not-so good episodes, for instance Craving, Drone, and Thirst. But then they make those outstanding episodes such as the Pilot, Transference, Commencement, Onyx, Arrival, Mortal, Hidden, Fragile, Void, Oracle, and Vessel to name just a few. I hope they keep writing for the show for at least 2-3 more years. Great work guys!
21. And how could I forget...the reason I have spent about 2-3 hours working on this thing..the fans..the fans are one of the components that make the show. If you don't have fans, then you don't have show, in my opinion. When I first got into this fandom, I really didn't know much about Superman in general, and now I could tell you quite a few things I know of. The fans on LJ are probably some of the nicest that I have seen and many of them will welcome you in a heartbeat..a few I know I listed in the last entry. So thank you fans for making this fandom what it is today (wow that sounded sappy..and kind of reminded me of an award speech for some odd reason :-p)
22. Almost forgot to mention this one..I know a couple people that can't stand this ship, and they can skip this part if they want, but here it goes..Lex/Lana..I just love the chemistry that these two have with one another and personally, I feel that there is more chemistry with them then there was with Clark/Lana *ducks from paper balls being thrown*..but what I mean to say is that I really do think the writers set it up this way..Tom and Kristin have great chemistry in my opinion, but I am just saying they led us on the Clark/Lana train for 4-5 years, and then Lana finally gets fed up with Clark and she goes to Lex.It is a bit refreshing, in my opinion..They compliment one another so well with the way their personalities are set up as, especially with Lana this season (which I was really enjoying up until Vessel where she went to Zod!Lex instead of helping out the poor defenseless people, including Chloe. But anyway, I am not sure how long the relationship will last for, and personally it wouldn't bother me if they broke up once Lex was in his own body again after the first couple episodes of season 6..even though I don't think Lex will let Lana go quite that easily..since he has had a thing for her since like what..season 1? Don't deny you all didn't see it..do you remember what he told to Clark in the second episode when he saw Lana for the first (real) time? He said this: "Well, I can't knock you're taste in women."..that should have been Clark's first warning, in my opinion, but anyway, onto the next couple..
23. I am very open to ships in this show, including Clark/Lana. I have loved them ever since I started watching the show and thought that they were great together, especially in season 5, but then Lex got in the way and basically split them apart..even though Clark did have a helping hand in this, unintentionally, of course. He had been dishonest with Lana for the whole 4-5 years that she knew him, and she got tired of it. He basically pushed her away from him and onto Lex. I really do feel bad for Clark though..*pets*. He will find someone eventually, I am sure..;-) *cough*Lois*cough*.
24. Martha..how could I leave out Ma Kent? She is now basically the only thing that holds that farm together, since Jonathan died. I love how she is so strong-willed with Clark and still gives him advice which he often does take..I also enjoy the fact that she decided to take Jonathan's place as Senator after he died. She will do a great job in my opinion..if only Clark can save her and Lois from that plane, I am sure she will be fine though..
25. My last and final one..Zodana..just because I like the name..it's kinda catchy, actually .
Wow-well, that took me a good 2-3 hours, but it was very fun. I could probably list a thousand other reasons why I watch the show, but they only asked for 25 and I have to get to sleep, so I will write later :-)
UPDATE: 12:51 a.m
