oh my god. i can't believe i managed to get through that. even though i didn't get most of it. but i'm going to try and respond to what i could figure out. i went clubbing in korea when i was doing one of those summer 고대 programs. we went to deep house and some other place like osiris, all in kangnam, i can't remember. it was interesting and they kept bringing girls by the table but i was one of the few people who could actually sort of talk to them. and although we were american, we were young and the girls got bored and left. oh well. but i remember the difficulty in getting home. mostly we shared taxis. and then there was the matter of trying to sneak back into the 기숙사. we were all americans so the idea of curfews in dorms was very annoying for us ( ... )

i'm actually here taking one of those summer programs that you participated in at one point, 'cept i'm at ewha, and i'm staying with mom for the first time since 10th grade. it quite nice, actually. i speak engrish alright 'cause i've lived in the states for almost 7 years... i think. my writing skills in both languages are pretty embarassing, though. but instead of working on perfecting it, i'm trying to learn more languages... i'm teaching myself japanese now.. i think i'll be okay with it once i manage to memorize all the hirakana's and gatakana's. i was inspired to learn 'cause i got a mini dv camcorder for pretty cheap, but all the buttons and programmed functions are in japanese and i got aggravated. ha ha. next on the list are cantonese, and portugese... hopefully within the next decade, 'cause i want to live in both of the places at some point.... not canton and portugal, but hong kong and brazil ( ... )

hmm. i know what you mean about the whole language thing. i've got the english thing down ok, i've been here forever. but my korean is lacking esp. in writing. but instead of re-learning my korean properly, i want to expand other languages. i lived in france for a year so i have decent french skills, about as good as iam in korean, better probably since i can read and write in french okay. and i tried to learn japanese so i could watch more kurosawa, anime and read murakami. but i gave up after one semester. portuguese is beautiful. i love it more than italian in its tonal play. i am studying it now and am trying to decide between brazil and korea for the next year of my life. i'm leaning toward brazil though. i don't know if i'l enjoy korea or not, i haven't lived there really since i was four, although i have visited. i would ove to go to hong kong but i don't know what's up since the handover. it's wong kar-wai's influence ( ... )
