Some bitching about househunting and an update about Mae

House-hunting is stressful and exhausting, but I think we're narrowing down the areas we want to live in. Right now the two favorites we have are not in very practical areas so we're still looking for the perfect house in the perfect location. We figure, since we're not in a big hurry to move then why not try to find something that suits all of our wants and not just our needs? We didn't find anything we liked during today's hunt, but we do understand much better what kind of house we can afford in which areas of Worthington. We only looked at one house in Linworth today, and while we didn't like the house, we did like the area. So we've decided to look at more houses in the 43235 zipcode. Hopefully we'll find something next Saturday!

I'm somewhat frustrated with hunting because we both have expensive taste. I know that we could afford so much more if I worked and I kind of feel like I'm dragging us down. I know that's not really the case- neither Ben nor I would want to put our babies in daycare just for a bigger home. But it's frustrating when you're driving around a beautiful neighborhood and stop to grab a brochure from a For Sale sign on a gorgeous house, only to find that its $200,000 more than you can afford. The only reason we could afford the house we looked at in that neighborhood was because it had significantly less square footage than the rest, had a teeny backyard with a powerline running through it, and faced the Franklin/Delaware county line. If I had decided to get my Master's degree rather than have kids, we could afford more. But then once we did have kids, they'd have to go to daycare... meh.

Anyway, I wanted to post about Mae- she's been making eye contact with us lately. Ben was looking at her and making silly noises and I think she actually cracked a smile at him! She's definitely been trying to mimic our facial expressions these past few days. Right now she's staring at the ceiling and waving her arms around. Something up there must be very interesting!
