So, despite my worries, this weekend's game actually turned out to be an amazingly faith-affirming experience for Hope. Having her Lady answer her prayers, and then on Saturday night having the spirit of the soon-to-be-canonized Mother Angelica Rose look at her and say, "Thank you for the quick death; it was a blessing" ...well, Hope damn near exploded. The plague is cured, the demon lord is gone, the heretics are being shown the Lady's keen displeasure in the Hells, and Lazar, Edaelith (is that how you spell it, Dan?), Hark, and Dorian are all safe and in one piece and not werewolfy. And Rose is okay with Hope now. Hope feels all kinds of validated.

Hope had a lot of "firsts" at this game:

-first Mass Heal Wounds ("getting her Will Cartwright on")
-first Magic Wall (with a potion of Spell Immunity: Dispel Magic as a chaser... oooh, the invincibility!)
-first Mass Safe Retreat ("Everybody touch me!")
-first Resurrect (and oh, oh the irony... Bishop Slygrass brought back by Kahla-Ran.)

Also fun: Hope got to find out, in-game, where in the world she'd ended up when she went through that portal at the Long Dark. Yamamotoans are useful! Hope's reaction: "Hm. So that was Meng Guo. Good. Now I know where not to go back to."

And, even if it was only for a moment, Hope got to see Vlatchek, which needed to happen on an existential level. Perhaps someday, when he's an NPC at another game, she'll get a chance to meet him in person.

I think all that remains to be done now is for Hope to write a prayer to Saint Angelica Rose and put it in her Liber Precium.

RIP Dane Greywolf; have a happy canonization, or whatever else is going to happen to you.

(Did I mention that I <3 Spell Immunity: Dispel Magic? *grin*)
