Intervieving for new staff

techobunny came round for dinner last night. I cooked ox tail soup and as we were cleaning up he spotted a little mouse running behind the washing machine. So we got out some trays and something to catch it in, and hauled out the wwasahing machine annd scrabbled around trying to catch the thing. No joy. So we left it with the intention of purchasing some humane traps the next day. I came down to make brunch this morning and the same llttle mouse was sat, bold as brass, in the middle of the floor. More chasing arround saw it hiding behind our bin and then scampering off underneath the fridge, from whence it proved impossible to extract.

I went into town after that with technobunny to get a trap and see if we could find a new keyboard and a new mouse for his laptop. (Mice seem to be a bit of a theme at the moment). I found techobunny a cheap mouse but no keyboard for me. I might not need to get one as my space bar seems to have decided to work again. I also got a humane trap which apon getting home, has been baited with gooey peanut butter and set up beside the fridge,(last place mouse sighted). It needs to be checked every 6 hours or so. Housemates have been informed and we will all be keeping our eyes open.

At work today the committee were holding interviews to replace a member of staff who is leaving. A parent picked up their child without letting us in on the secret and it was only after 1/2 an hour of running round in circles I found out that her mum had picked her up and just 'forgotten' to tell us.

The rest of the day at work was fraught. We were going for quiet group games today and an easter egg hunt out in our little garden bit. The children were fractious and one of them bounced a small meatle ballbearing on the floor which then rebounded and nearly hit another child in the eye.

The easter egg hunt went well, with the children behaving very nicely untill it was noticed that someone had been letting their dog into our play area again to have a shit! What the fuck is wrong with these people? We have had a big sign up on the gate for over a year saying 'Childrens play area. No dogs'! *Grrr*

Millie the rat is being taken to the vet tomorrow. I doubt the prognosis will be good. Marie will be hartbroken if she has to be put to sleep. I will be very upset too. Millie is the sweetest rat I have ever met. *sniff*
