Favorite Christmas Memories

Nov 30, 2011 18:23

Christmas is definetly my favorite time of the year. This year we have snow early, and everything is pretty and white still. Everything just seems so much more peaceful this time of year. Granted everything seems a little more chaotic than usual because I'm working on a million and one homemade Christmas projects but still, It's Christmas. And how can anyone be a scrooge is beyond me.

My favorite Christmas memories aren't of any gifts that were given, though Mall of America was one of my most ridiculous guilty pleasures, but a collection of traditions and moments spent with the fantastic friends and family of my life.

I remember.....

....being the last one asleep on Christmas Eve and the first person awake on Christmas morning.
....opening up EVERYONE"S stocking before they did, because I was always the first person awake.
....searching for my presents before they were being given to me to find out what they were. If they were wrapped, peeling back the tape to see what was underneath and the challenge of not ripping the paper.
....Christmas Eve being spent at my Grandpa and Grandma Franklin's house, which meant spending time with my cousins and aunts and uncles all at one dining room table.
....Christmas DIRT CAKE!!! Grandma always scooped you a bowl full just to kick you out of the kitchen, but what a consellation prize!
....Christmas morning being spent with the scent of polish sausage filling the air.
....Christmas Afternoon being spent at my other Grandparents house.

There are so many more memories but my ultimate memory is listening to WHMI radio station and having the Cheech and Chong Christmas play on the radio before school. I still listen to it every year. If you have never heard it, go right now and look it up!
