I Miss Summer Vacation, but Let's Talk about Zero Instead...

WARNING: This post is strictly "OMG, he is soooo hot" or other comments of that nature. If you are not into that, don't read and don't flame me.  You have been warned.

I never was a huge Zero fangirl. I was more of an X girl for reasons to ridiculous to explain (hmm, an idea for another post...). I think what deaden the appeal for me was that, like most gamers when they first play MMX1, I thought Zero was a "she". I mean, you can see from the picture above you why I thought this. A guy with long, blond hair? You're kidding me, right? I'm not even going to go into his chest area.  I was ten years old when I played MMX1, and my first impression of Zero was "Oh, great. A girl in the game. I can relate to this." I didn't know about anime at the time. I didn't know that usually males in anime were very effeminate looking. Again, I cite the picture above this paragraph.

Recently, I've changed my stance. Because I'm more open to breaking gender norms, I've been looking at things differently. Bottom line, I'm older now.  This means, yes Zero, you're getting redemption.

Most of my internet fan-buddies love Zero. I, with my undying allegiance to X, didn't understand why. Trust me, I love X, but I have to admit that Zero is cooler. He gets the Z-saber, he has a cocky persona, and he gets all the ladies. Not to mention that he was once bad. You expect this from being Wily's last creation.

I guess what really got me was not Zero's coolness, but his "close" bond with X. I put close in quotation marks because, as you are going to see, there is something more to this relationship than a close friendship. That's right. They're into each other like that...

Did you stop vomiting? Good. I won't talk anymore about that. I promise...

While I was searching for more Zero/X yaoi, I came across the MMX manga.

Hubba-Hubba:

You've won me over, Zero.

BTW, that's not even the best one. There is lots of them at Dr. Neko's site. I suggest you log on and visit the site. You won't be sorry.

The physical appearance is just one factor. Sure, Zero is a hot Maverick Hunter, but there is one other factor that is just as important:

A voice.

Because of the advent of CD-based games, game developers have made strides in how to enhance the gaming experience. One way of doing this is through realistic graphics and voices. I will always have a soft spot for MMX4  for PlayStation even though X's voice was really messed up (He is not a girl...) :(

But Zero's voice was fine. Some people don't like his MMX4 voice. Fuck the haters. I like it. But I REALLY LOVE Zero's voice in the recent MMX games. Again, some people don't like Zero's voice. "It's too surfer boyish." they say.  Well, I don't have to repeat myself with the same expletive phase again.

For the record, I've always thought Zero's voice had a Californian twang. He's blond...

I'll show you what I'm talking about. Here are some good examples:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=A_3_3kjd6Uk  Best part is at 3:00 (when Vile comes in and does his laugh).
http://youtube.com/watch?v=A-8ak8lu4dw   A couple of things: Watch as Zero verbally bitch-slaps X and, for the first time in the X games, comic relief.

Heh, well that's about it. I swear I will balance this post with something more mature.

You're next, X.

OT: Congrats to my cousin who just graduated from 8th grade. :)

mmx
