What's so special about American Apparel and Urban Outfitters?
Especially American Apparel because the first I've heard of it was through Seventeen magazine (it was my sister's, not mine) in an article discussing places to get cheap tank tops and shirts with a big marquee saying "If you want the best tank tops, head to American Apparel." I think I checked out their website and loved some of their shirts. Of course, that was years ago.
I went with my sister to the only American Apparel store in the city. As I went in, I knew I didn't belong. Most of the people shopping there were high school kids wearing long striped shirts with leggings, and here I was wearing a green sweater and jeans. I looked at the tank tops---$20.00. WTF? I remember the tank tops were once $15.00. Still to much for me, but damn the economy. I was unimpressed with their selection. Mental note: my fashion style doesn't include gold leggings and gym wear.
Urban Outfitters was a lot better. I still didn't find anything other than a cute lamb lamp, but it was too much for me to buy. I like some of the clothing there although not enough bargains. I'm a simple person when it comes to fashion. Give me one colored T-shirts and tank tops with an old pair of jeans and I'm comfortable.
If you're celebrating today, Happy St. Patrick's Day.
