I'm glad you had a good fourth. Your dad is totally in error though, about the shrink xD I mean, shrinks are supposed to listen and diagnose mental health issues, not tell people what to do with their lives.

Why in particular does he view Vere as bad for you? Is he very conservative?

Well we have pretty harsh arguments at times, bad enough to have broken up during them a couple times. We make up afterwards and every time it actually ends up being better and better, because we've communicated and aired something that needed it, but it upsets my dad and leads him to think it's an unhealthy erlationship, and both of us with our different motivations are just clinging to each other so we wont be alone. But because of the way the relationship between my father and I is going, he just doesn't tend to hear anything about my life except the spectacularly bad when it happens. That, and like you guessed, he is pretty conservative in his values. Not so much that he minds that Vere is a girl, but that she's not in college and has a mohawk. He just doesn't see her as a grownup in any way because of that.

I may end up actually going to a shrink, partly to humor him, but also just to help me keep my own balance. It gets a lot harder sometimes than it used to be.
