My mini-adventure.

The many highlights from my adventure out west to L.A., Vegas, and the grand Mojave Desert...

-Sunset Strip- as trashy and stuck in the hair-metal 80's as I expected it to be

-the legendary Laugh Factory on Sunset-where comedians like Robin Williams got their start, and where I met my favorite comedian Jeffrey Ross. HI-LAR-IOUS.

-All the touristy stuff in Hollywood-like, Grauman's Chinese Theater, Kodak Theatre (where the Oscars take place), the Hollywood sign, the El Capitan Theater, Whisky A Go-Go, the Roxy and the Comedy Store. The Kodak Theatre and Grauman's Chinese Theatre were probably my fav tourist spots

-The Santa Monica Pier-from the same (shitty) beach where Baywatch was filmed-highlights from this location include homeless puppeteurs (sp?), a romantic ferris wheel, and the beautiful, clean city of Santa Monica

-Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum-okay, I know I'm a dork, but the two-headed baby skeleton gets me everytime, and I love the room with all the pics of people who've had rods go straight through their bodies and lived to tell about it. Anyone seen the picture of the guy who had the sword fish go straight through his forehead? Believe it or NOT?

-BEVERLY HILLS! Completely and utterly ridiculous...now I remember why I hate filthy rich people

-Rodeo Drive-although I never saw a celebrity (besides the D-list comedians at the Laugh Factory), I did see plenty of papparazzi on the fabulous Rodeo Drive

-Seafood-We went to this quaint place called Gladstone's in Santa Monica that wrapped your leftovers in origami-style aluminum foil creations. My waiter created a whale out of foil...BRILLIANT!

-The fast-paced excitement of Las Vegas- I must admit, I loved every minute of slot machines, screeching neon lights and blistering heat (it was 101 degrees in Vegas on the day we went! Yowsa!)

-Cirque du Soleil- so so so much fun and so worth the money. It made me feel like a wide-eyed little kid again :)

-Winning sixty dollars off slot machines- I actually walked out of Vegas on the plus side monetarily, which is more than I can say for my other half, the Hickster

-The Desert- what can I say about the desert that could possibly sum up my experience? I absolutely fell in love with the mountains, the desolation, the colors, the textures, the strong winds, the joshua tress, the windsurfing, everything about it. It was like visiting a different country, or planet even. I've never seen anything like it. Although I know I could never live in such a place (the sun and I don't play nice and I'd probably go bonkers without city-ish things), it made me feel so serene and peaceful. Definitely one of, it not the most favorite part of my trip. I miss it already :(

There are many more highlights that aren't coming to mind right now, but I'm sure they'll spring up. Now off to watching more Metal Mania on Vh1....I hope the Pantera Behind the Music comes on again. It made me cry the last time I watched it :(
