My Moves are White

Feb 20, 2008 22:32

So I am finally getting around to writing about my crazy weekend last week. I just came back from my STATS social, was sitting upstairs in my room trying to read for bio, and I just couldn't concentrate. In addition, my computer still can not access internet so I have come to my apartment's computer lab. But anyway, onward about February 13th!

So February 13th was the day of the COBRA STARSHIP concert! It was AH-MAZING! So basically Phi and I skipped out on bio class so Brittany and us could head on out to San Fran. We get to Slims about 5 something, and wait in the ridicuolously long line. Seriously, who shows up before 5 when the show doesn't even start till 7:30?! So I waited in line, waiting to pick up my tickets and Gabe (lead singer of Cobra Starship) came out of nowhere behind me. There were a swarm of girls that engulfed him and I was completely clueless, and stood there dumbfounded, trying to think, "now where have I seen this guy?" Then the light bulb went on, and I thought "OH! dur, it is Gabe!" I quickly reached for my camera, trying to get a decent photo but there were too many girls crowded around him. By the time I realized I wasn't going to get a good shot, he was walking away, and so now I only have freaky stalker pictures of his back side.

After waiting two hours in lines, we were finally let in to the venue. Since my camera battery doesn't work, I stole my mom's hefty camera before going back to Davis. I tried to hide it in my scarf, but security picked it out and was debating if I could take it in or not. In my head I was pleading to let me bring in my mom's camera, and after a minute of debate, they approved my camera. We walked in and went to bag check immediately to drop off all our bags and jackets. The only thing I had on me was the hunky camera, strapped around my neck, making me look like the FOB.

We stood near the front off to a side of the stage, and waited for a while until The Cab started setting up. As the numerous other bands, like We the Kings and Metro Station played their giddies, the crowds started to squish the life out of me. I never felt so uncomfortable in my life! I felt like I was being squeezed from every side, and that no personal bubble existed. After the last of the small bands had finished performing, there were tons of pushing and pulling and yelling. You couldn't move your feet because if you did, good luck trying to find a place to put it back. Also, it got so bad to the point that you couldn't move your arms up and down. I remember someone behind me must have been trying to rest their arms and put them down. Then when he/she tried to put their arms up, I totally felt like they were grabbing my butt and all. I think I got my hair pulled too. It so did not help with everyone's body heat accumulating in the middle of the room, and you had to turn your face to the sky just to breath. With all that body heat, there was a lot of sweat and that mixed with sticky bodies, and frizzy hair was definitely not a good mix. But when the lights went down and Cobra Starship was about to play, it didn't matter anymore.

Everyone was SO in to Cobra Starship. I almost felt out of place, I was just a fan, but not a crazy psycho like some girls seem to be. But it was a lot of fun, just jumping and grooving (not that you had a choice since everyone was so jam packed, you kind of moved with the crowd). They played a lot of songs, and I had such a blast that right now the whole thing seems like a blur. I can remember some songs, they played one of my favorites, My moves are white, or as Phi and I like to call it, my moobs are white. And they played hollaback boy (uh huh, holy S***. it's about time you get off my dick...mwahahaa). Basically all I really remember is lots of crazy awesome music with me singing and dancing.

After the show ended, we asked some guys cleaning up for some water, and they gave it to us! yay for free water! I then got in line to buy some t-shirts for Ronnie and I. Then we heard news that all these band members were outside, so we made a mad dash for it. Phi and I stood amongst the mobs of people surrounding certain people. But eventually we got pictures with everyone except the drummer of Cobra Starship. HA! I have this one REALLY UGLY picture of Gabe, he has a double chin, but it is cool.

Later on, I was wondering where Brittany was, since after all, she was my ride. I called her and she told me she was on one of the tour buses (belonging to Wed the Kings and Metro Station). She asked if we wanted on, and I was like sure? As lame as it sounds, what I really wanted to do was to go back and read for bio. But after waiting outside for a while, Phi and I decided to mosey on in to the tour bus. Basically they were having like a mini lame club in there, so I just kind of stood on the sidelines and observed. Brittany was talking to some dude, and I was like, eH, might as well make the best of this situation. So Phi and I decided dancing and just having fun. A couple of the band members tried to come over and dance but they seemed kind of creepy. I made sure I positioned myself so my butt was to a wall. Ha, I am so lame.

But at 1:30, the driver kicked everyone off and Brittany drove us all home. I crashed for like 30 minutes, and then we arrived back at Davis. I started to read for Bio, and do labs for chem and physics. I didn't realize how much work I had to do, and didn't go to bed till after 5. Then I had to wake up at 7 to make it to phy lab. As little sleep as I got, it was totally worth it and I keep wishing that I had tickets to another Cobra Starship concert.
