Ok I really really want to have a nice rant right now.
Anarchism.
I was brought up in an extreme-left household... even slightly communist.
I believe in extreme left ideas, i.e. socialism and anarchy (although i consider it to be more of a nirvana to be strived for rather than a social order (or lack of) that can be achieved). Let me get this straight this rant isn't to preach, I am as subject to consumer society as the next person, but I still do spend alot of time thinking about society, etc.
this is what the rant is really about, what I call in my uneducated terms: The Death Of Anarchism, that is, the consumerisation of anarchism.
Yes this is directed to all you people, the ones that BUY BRAND NAME CLOTHES, CDS, WATCH TV, EAT FOOD FROM A PACKET so on so on, and still go "Anarshy this... Anarchy that" or even better quote anarchistic lyrics/ talk about how BANDS SIGNED TO MAJOR RECORD LABELS, MEANING THEY MAKE MONEY< LOTS OF IT, MEANING C A P I T A L I S T S.
This is coming out all wrong... my point is, anarchism is a great concept... BUT we can be left, we can promote a fairer and equal society, and still go about our consumerist ways of life, BUT we do NOT have to brand it "Anarchism" becase the anarchy symbol looks heaps trendy scribbled on the knee of your new $140 jeans.
Why do we have to call our beliefs of fairer society 'anarchistic', when most us wear our Che Guevera tshirts that cost over $50, more because they look cool rather than because we have any idea what they stand for.
:) the next thing I plan to rant about it Bob Marley :p
Stay tuned for more enlightenment...
