It was a very poor city. Many people so not have cars or even the resources to get out. Also, there are always so many warnings that people got used to it thinking it's no big deal. It's like that a lot in Miami too. And this is a HUGE city so if we ever had to evacuate, where on earth would we go???
I am so angry and upset that I have no words. I am glad that everyone I know is safe and accounted for. I posted a message on a bulletin board this morning to find out about my friend and his wife and it turns out they went to North Carolina.
Even in this day and age with all the political correctness mumbo jumbo that people talk about, NOLA was the Old South and there are still racial tensions there. I am thisclose to telling my job to shove it and volunteering for the Red Cross and going to help out. Then I will move to England because this country is going to hell.
What Shrub needs to do is get our troops the hell out of Iraq and here in our own country where they need protection from themselves. For fuck's sake, the police are looting!!! I am so disgusted.

I am just so frustrated by the inaction of the federal government. The response to this tragedy has been terrible.
