This is what we ate at Range on Thursday, June 7th:
Appetizer
-steamed manila clams with spicy fennel sausage and garlic toast
Entrees
-Sara: seared hawaiian ahi with english peas, asparagus, beets, lucques olives and horseradish(?)
-Mariko: pan roasted hanger steak with roasted young shallots(?) and an aged cheddar and potato gratin
-Me: fromage blanc stuffed artichokes with beluga lentils, pinenuts and olive oil
Dessert
-bittersweet chocolate-armagnac soufflé
-cornmeal crêpes with blackberries and crème fraîche ice cream
Cocktails
-Mariko: Red Dawn
-Me: 1794 = old overholt rye, cinzano, campari, burnt orange
That was good. It's been a week now and I am still thinking of what an excellent meal that was. It's just been a REALLY long time since I've had a meal where every single course was GOOD. damn, i wish i'd brought my camera w/ me b/c everything looked pretty too. I mean, the soufflé came and it didn't collapse. It lived up to it's full soufflé potential. This is a whole other story regarding chocolate desserts.
