"Nothing happens unless first a dream.."

Bones. Sigh. If it hasn't been Lost these past few days (or, you know, the heap of school things I'm expected to learn because it'll make me smart), chances are if you've talked to me since last Thursday I've mentioned the word 'Bones' at least once. Or maybe five times. Or, if the presence of shippers probably closer to fifty. :-P. It's not often (on a network like FOX, who switches your timeslot to literally every day of the week including the Friday Night Death Slot) that a show makes it to 100 episodes.

Anyway, I was going to be awesome and use the pretty new icons I found on this post but photobucket decided to fail. Of course. I also didn't get to do running commentary like I was originally planning to because I was entirely too distracted. Whatever. Just read if you care.

-First of all, I love Sweets. I want to hug him, laugh, and feel sorry for him at the same time. I get the feeling he had in the 100th episode. He thought he had Booth and Brennan completely figured out and then he finds out something huge happened between them at the beginning. Okay, maybe not huge, but enough to change some of his stance. By the way, I find it kind of funny that Brennan didn't even blink or balk at the idea of Sweets concluding they were in love prior to going in his office. She might have said she didn't care/knew it wasn't true, but none the less I find the look on Booth's face kind of sad already.

-FLASHBACKS. I was concerned because being the huge Lost fan I am I know that sometimes, when done right, said flashbacks can serve an important purpose in showing something we as the audience are supposed to see. However, other times they serve as nothing more than filler. Guys--they were the first one. The look on his face when he first saw her (completely not what he expected), and the imidiate flirtation. GUH. Amazing. Of course there was the whole "But we can't because we work together" line even back then but as evidenced in the bar and running out into rain that didn't really phase them much once they stopped working together.

BTW, a BB kiss in the rain was pretty amazing. Even if it happened in the past. I have to admit my reaction might be different had they actually slept together. It would have changed so many things. That being said, I really like the FBs because we get to see them learn so many things about each other (John Wilkes Booth, etc), and of course the flip book. Seeing that thing and knowing what we have now just makes me miss the real Angelator. :-/

Also, the whole UST vibe in these makes me think of the shooting range scene in the Pilot. Which makes me think of how much more sense it makes for that particular part to seem hot out of mostly no where. Also, after this I'm sort of intrigued and am jumping on the train of people who want to see David and Emily's screen test tape. You know it exists. I want to see it. It's also interesting how in the beginning he was only on contract for 13 episodes a season and wanted to work with a completely different actress. Oh, how far we have all come...

-THE END. Yeah, I'm fast-forwarding there because I felt I needed to. There wasn't much happening in present times anyway. First of all--yes, Booth IS the gambler. But even he weighs his odds first. Despite loving this scene ever since the first time I saw it last week I've gone back and forth in terms of what I actually think. I'm happy because finally something is happening between them and they're not just hiding behind the line anymore. However...BRENNAN. What are you thinking? She loves him--everybody and their brother knows that. He knows that. Which is exactly why I find myself aggravted at her. However, there's also Booth. The man who once told Sweets that he couldn't "rush her".

Um, hello? Don't get me wrong; I'm glad Booth took that chance. I'm glad he put himself out there because otherwise I doubt anything would have come to fruition. Still, he has worked alongside this woman for years now. Despite any recent declarations from her about the fact love may or may not exist and such things, Brennan is still very fragile emotionally. He knows this. He knows this and takes the chance to put his heart on the line. This is the part some people don't even mention because um, hello--they kissed. *squee*. She nearly lost him twice in this past year, not to mention the fact that he once took a bullet for her and um, oh yeah....she thought he was dead.

The point I'm trying to get at is that Brennan knows how easy it is to lose him. She knows that if she opens herself up more than she already has it'll be big and scary and so many things she can't examine or quantify in her lab. Just like she said, she's protecting him from herself. What she's scared of isn't that he won't feel the same in "30 or 40 or 50 years", it's that she won't. Booth, while he did have valid points, knows by now that he can't rush her and therefore should have gone about that more appropriately. Don't take this as me accepting the way she reacted either. She could have said "I'm scared" or something of the sort. Can we talk about the tears, please? Those were NOT scripted. AT ALL. Emily is ridiculously amazing with emotional scenes like that and, well. David had a tear. I'm not kidding. Go back and watch, because there was definitely one. The raw emotion that came from them both is something pretty rare.

There you have it. I'm working on a post-ep fic but I haven't had much time to really focus on it yet so hopefully I'll get a chance soon. It wasn't the greatest episode ever or anything, but Dave did a great job directing and the story, however angsty, was worth it. They deserve at least a nomination. Oh, and when David and Emily do commentary for the DVDs I sort of want this to be the episode. Unless what I think will happen in the finale actually does happen, in which case I'd much rather hear them discussing what happened  bantering while that plays in the background. :-P
