update

Hey all
I thought it would be time for an update. I went to a family reunion over the 4th of July down in Tennessee. One of my cousins, Kathy said I hadn't done a update lately. So here it is nothing new to report one. I am not even for sure when the last time I did an updated email. Some of you all might have heard of this before.
I am still working at Iowa Focus in Creston, IA. Iowa Focus works with children and adults with disabilities. I help them learn life time skills so they are able to live on their own now or as the children get older then they know things to get out on their own. I have been working there for 2 1/2 years full time. I work with 2 children and 6 adults. I do enjoy it and like to see the improvements in their lives but I am still looking for another job. I can't make a living off of the pay and no insurance. If anybody hears of a job in your area let me know. I majored in child and family studies with a minor in Recreation. It is pretty much anything in the human services field and any type of recreation jobs. I have applied for jobs in Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, and some other places.
This past two weeks has been stressful but also relief at the same time. I am not for sure how many people I emailed about my dad. He has been fighting a male prostate problem for one year. He kept on putting it off. He finally made an appointment and the doctor said he needs to have surgery. He said wait till during the summer and after a family reunion that I just got back from. The doctors said that is fine but he wanted to make sure his kidneys were working. So he went to have an ultra sound and they found blockage in his bladder. They end up emptying out 2 liters of fluid so they said he had to have the surgery as soon as possible. They set up the surgery for the 20th of June. The doctor wanted him to have a pre opt appointment. So they end up doing an EKG and it came back all goofed up. So they end up putting him in the hospital for the night. They did a few more EKG's and it came back that he had a left bundle branch blockage in his heart. That is nothing serious so he can't have an EKG because it will goof up the machine. He got released to have the surgery on the 20th. He has come out of it in flying colors but they want him to have a stress test done this week. I will let everyone know how things came out if you want to know.
One July 2 my parents, brother, my niece and myself left to go to Tennessee for a family reunion. We went to Carbondale, Illinois and stayed there. We meet up with my cousins Al and Kathy. On the 3rd we all went out to see where my dad went to college and where they lived before they had kids. Then we went on down to Memphis, Tennessee to see Graceland. We were in 4 states that day. We started in Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, and Tennessee. We end up meeting up with another group of family from Colorado. We went to see Elvis home and that was fun. Then we went to Martin to see the rest of the family.
On Friday my brother, Patrick and I went to buy fireworks for the 4th of July. My cousins Steve, Gene, Sid put a lot of work trying to find out the heritage of my family. At one time they lived near Martin before going to Missouri. So thanks go to them so then we know some of our family heritage. Later that day we went to see where the Gales used to live, the cemeteries, and the churches. We counted 36 Gale’s the whole weekend.
That night Patrick, Brandon and I shot off out fireworks for the 4th of July. There was another group of people that was shooting the off the same time. Most of the people at the hotel watched them. There were about 20 on the second floor 20 on the bottom and then more watching from the pool and our family.
Saturday we went shopping and went swimming. We had a banquet on Saturday night where they talked about more of the heritage then had a banquet after. We played card games spoon and nerts.
It has been so much fun hanging out with family and catching up with each other. I am already missing the family we saw. It was a nice break and now I am trying to get back to a normal life.
We left on Sunday morning and went to St. Louis. We started out in Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, and Missouri. We stopped at the Arch but didn't end up going up. It was an hour wait to get up to it. We went to my mom's sister’s house to spend Sunday night with them. We left on Monday and came back to Creston. We stopped in a town to see some friends of the family.
I am not for sure if a lot of people know this but last December I decided to start loosing weight. So I decided to join Curves. I got there 3-5 times a week. At this present time I have lost 22 pounds and 22 inches. I started out with 24 jeans and now down to 18 jeans. I also watch what I eat. I feel so much better about the whole thing.
How are you all doing?
Tiffany
