Today I finally got around to seeing the TOKYO TOWER! It was all I'd ever imagined it would be, and more. I even got to meet the tower's mascot and he gave me a big ol' Tokyo Tower hug. hahaha I guess the tower is like 333meters tall or something, just a few meters taller than the Eiffel Tower because Japan wants to claim tall tower fame for itself! We (me and my international student friend Jessa) also went to Meiji Shrine and we saw a Japanese style wedding take place. It was very beautiful. We ended our day at the Ebisu Beer Hall, where I bought strange souviners like Beer flavored caramel and beer flavored jelly (like jello). That place was pretty cool... it was a free museum all in Japanese, but I could look at the pictures and get the point. We also got to sample all their beers (4) for 400 yen, but when I went up to buy tickets for the second round, well.. they were 'out'!!! WHAT BREWERY RUNS OUT OF SAMPLER SETS?!?!?! Especially on a SAT. nite?! hmmm, well we got kind of angry and left. Went to Shinjuku, walked around looking for a place to carry on, but it was sooo crowded that we were gonna go postal if we didnt leave, like immediately. So we returned to Machida and ate at lovely Saizeria (cheap "italian" restaurant). All of this made for quite a tiring day!!
Oh at the Tokyo Tower, I found a Hello Kitty hand towel for MACHIDA! There are handtowels for all the big cities in Japan, and some of the more famous places too. Each one has Hello Kitty doing something that is apparently famous to Japanese people. Machida is only really famous for its love hotels, so i was quite surprised to find this towel. However, Hello Kitty is not in a love hotel... haha... instead she's dressed up like a squirrel to commerate the RISU-EN (squirrel park) that's in Machida. (the poor squirrels are caged up, and people enter the park and the squirrels can like crawl all over aka attack them... oh, Japan). Anyway, so I was soo happy, and bought it at once. I also got my deluxe Tokyo Tower PEN!! I've been wanting one ever since I saw Paul's. And now I have my very own... I'm gonna bring it to school tomorrow to show off to all my Friends. hehe
As of Monday, I have just one short month left in Japan. On Wednesday I'm going to go to HOKKAIDO with Ash for a 3 day adventure. Then, on Saturday Jaime returns to North Virginia. She will be missed by all here in Japan-land. =D
