Starry Night

Ok, so I saw something this morning that made it even more apparent that there needs to be more harsher criteria for animé (both as internal and external distribution).

Mew Mew Power

Sailor Moon

Notice the striking similarities.

Mew Mew Moon

Sailor Moon...Moon

That second one I was trying to find the Japanese opening which had the original pose of Sailor Moon shadowed underneath a crescent moon, but that's the closet thing I could find at 7:30 in the morning. lol

Also I couldn't find the Mew Mew Power transform sequence, but basically it looks exactly like all the Sailor Scouts transform sequences, cept for the tiara, you have cat ears. But seriously....it's the EXACT SAME SEQUENCE. Down to the little pendant that the main characters wear and the "glow-sticks" from the other scouts...I mean cats. Not to mention that there's the cute, mysterious, young male who sweeps in to save the main character and then ducks out when he is no longer needed (Blue Knight vs. Tuxedo Mask).

It's just sad...I mean, only 30ish years out of animé and this is the crap we're getting? I mean, even for a kids program at least there are a billion more unique and original things than that. I wonder if the Sailor Moon peeps have gotten any suing/money out of the Mew Mew tards for completely ripping off Sailor Moon. Seriously, other than the shitty music and everyone turning into a cat, it's Sailor Moon 2006! I know that the jap's are crazy, but this is just stupid. Course, I should probably blame the people in the U.S. who brought the shit-tacular show to our shores.
