A/N: Written for the sixth round of drabble_las Prompt was: the calm before the storm.
The porch steps aren’t comfortable but it’s peaceful out here, and Sam’s going to enjoy that while he can. The screen door lets out the metallic sounds of Dean cleaning the weapons; the soft rustling of paper as Dad researches their next hunt.
There’s a bus ticket in Sam’s pocket, his duffle’s packed, and he hasn’t told his family that he’s leaving. The fight that’s coming will be epic and he can’t put it off any longer.
A full ride to Stanford, he thinks. Most fathers would be proud, not go ballistic.
One final calming breath, then he heads inside.
