Me too! I've been holding this one in my mind for years. So happy to get a prompt that led to it actually getting written!

ahhhh I love this! I was scratching my head a bit over this idea, but you made it work ♥

I want to know what's going on with Dean, though. I"m worried about him!

Ha, thanks, I'm glad it worked for you! I sort of ran out of time to flesh it out the way I wanted to, but as Dean ages and goes on and on, Hell, and Purgatory and the Mark weigh on him and he needs a good monster slaighter to put himself right. That's the itch he has to scratch.

Ah okay! I kinda love that a good hunt is--still!--exactly what Dean needs to set himself straight ♥

Also, everyone's reactions to finding out about and experiencing Wincest made me giggle every time it came up. Anything that discomfits Jane amuses me.

This is a gorgeous tale, beautifully written, speculative and evocative. But I love it most for the idiom you wield so expertly--I hear it all in the cadence, flow, and expression of the Firefly 'verse, which is not something a lot of writers can carry off well.

Thanks for this.

Thank you! Dialogue is hard and Firefly had such wonderfully authentic and different words that it was hard to do it justice. I missed some and got others pretty close, I think so it all evened out.

I'm so happy you liked it!

OMG Eeeeeeeee this is the BEST! I was just like oh, ok, it's an au version of Sam and Dean-right up until Book said "gospels" and then I was like WHAT. NO WAY. OMG THEY'RE IMMORTAL just carrying on hunting and saving folks AND THEN DEAN HAS 'BABY' PARTS IN HIS SPACESHIP ……… AND Mal has DRAWINGS of it! This was such a rollercoaster of delight I can't even express it all!

And I love your hand with the voices, part of the joy of Firefly was how very distinctive everybody's speech was, and there were a lot of points where it shone but the moment that made me go oh hell yep, I'm on board for this crossover now was this: "Having a gun pointed at me tends to agitate my brother."

I am not done squeeing yet, but it is very much past my bedtime now so I'll pick up again tomorrow!

P.S. Also pffft late? You may well have noticed I only posted mine a day before you did, so I'll be quite content in my little glass house! Want to come over for tea?

Eeeee! I am so thrilled you liked this! I wrote the opening lines and a snippet of the scene with River, the Winchesters, Mal and Jayne in the bar years ago and they just sat in my to do folder until I got your prompt. <3.

That they were immortal and Book would know them through the gospels was always part of the plan so I am doing cartwheels that you liked that in particular.

I'm especially thrilled that the dialogue was passable. It's tricky to get those voices to sound authentic. Some bits of it worked better than others.

LOL, I would love to come over for tea.

Oh that was a nice weaving of legend and gospel and Firefly verse! I've read a couple of crossovers before and there really should be more, I reckon. It's good to have one more to add to the pot!
