The latest post at
spn_bunker for Women of Letters Wednesday was to write a drabble about the bunker. And the members came through with some beauts
here . They range from heartwarming to heartbreaking (I'm looking at you,
kalliel ). Here's mine.
The bunker’s not abandoned. Those who inhabited it, scholars with inquiring minds and daring souls, have been swept away on a tide of evil but activity goes on inside the warded concrete walls. An inter-dimensional portal spins a watery glow behind a reinforced steel door twenty feet thick. Mysterious clacks and wails echo menacingly from impenetrable curse boxes and the nethermost chambers house legends from the deepest pits of the underworld.
Machines hum and record and monitor rooms seemingly devoid of life. It was built for a purpose and that purpose remains to be served. Silently, patiently, the bunker waits.
