she just might save your soul

The signal is subtle
We pass just close enough to touch
No questions, no answers
We know by now to say enough
With only simple words
With only subtle turns
The things we feel alone for one another

There is a secret that we keep
I won't sleep if you won't sleep
Because tonight may be the last chance we'll be given
We are compelled to do what we must do
We are compelled to do what we have been forbidden

So I won't sleep if you won't sleep tonight

Our act of defiance
We keep this secret in our blood
No paper or letters
We pass just close enough to touch
We love in secret names
We hide within our veins
The things that keep us bound to one another

There is a secret that we keep
I won't sleep if you won't sleep
Because tonight may be the last chance we'll be given
We are compelled to do what we must do
We are compelled to do what we have been forbidden

Until the last resilient hope
Is frozen deep inside my bones
And this broken fate has claimed me
And my memories for its own
Your name is pounding through my veins
Can't you hear how it is sung?
And I can taste you in my mouth
Before the words escape my lungs
And I'll whisper only once...

There is a secret that we keep
I won't sleep if you won't sleep
Because tonight may be the last chance we'll be given
We are compelled to do what we have to

so, last night was pretty good.

first, I went to lunch with linz and we talked and it was fun of course. then at 3:15 I met nick, chris, and ed at dave's. we drove to the T station to meet paravati and jim. we got downtown and couldn't decide where to eat. chris and nick took ed to buy a dashboard ticket. we ended up going to joe's crab shack. I will never eat at one again. their menu sucks and so does their food. everyone else was in agreement. after that we walked down to wait in line and by that time we only had less than an hour til the doors opened. the wait was hot but I've had much worse before; 4 hours in the hot sun for sugar ray and 2 hours in the freezing cold for mae. we finally got in and stood in the crowd for like an hour. rach, jamie, and the other person they were with found me and stayed with us. bernardo came and we're not sure why because we don't think he listens to music. anyway, the first performance was ben lee and that was good. then say anything came on and they weren't horrible but I wouldn't listen to their music. their lead singer was talented however. rach and I ended up in front of chris because when the crowd started pushing forward rach was holding my hand and I grabbed chris's arm in case I was going to get killed and he was like "for fuck's sake, get in front of me." that was nice of him especially because rach is so short. lol. I also got elbowed in the chest a few times by nick which wasn't fun.

then a white curtain fell over the stage so they could set up for dashboard. when it fell we finally got to see what was hiding behind the big black sheets and hanging from the ceiling. they were three huge japanese lanterns, each with 2 or 3 lanterns attached at the bottom. the backdrop was really cool. it looked like a brick building with windows. then later in the show it looked like silhouettes of trees outside, and shooting stars, then it flashed a bunch of pictures of street signs first in black and white then in color. the lighting was so amazing because they just got off a tour with u2 and used a lot of their good lighting techniques. the lanterns flashed different colors sometimes. there were intricate lighting designs on the side of the stage too. the only thing that sucked was getting strobed right in the eyes a bunch. anyway, chris carrabba didn't even play his guitar except during the chorus of the first 3 songs so chris lacava was really pissed and I thought it was dumb too. but then he played an acoustic version of "swiss army romance" (that song is really good and the message is even better) and kept playing his guitar from then on.

I don't remember every song that was played but I know that they played "remember to breathe" which was amazing, expecially when the guy from say anything came on stage to sing it and sounded better than chris carrabba who kept using unncessary falsetto throughout the performance. they also played "rooftops and invitations" (I really liked that),  "stolen" (gay), "dusk and summer" (eh), "the secret's in the telling" (which he described as a song about loving someone enough to do the wrong thing and I totally related), "again I go unnoticed" (also a good song that I relate to), "currents" (we love to make fun of the line that goes 'pirouettes and spins' because it sucks), "so long, so long", "don't wait" (of course), "screaming infidelities" (the first song I really sang to; I don't like the song but it's fun to sing to), "the ghost of a good thing" (eh), and "turpentine chaser." not in the order of course because there's no way I could remember that. lol. I had to go to a listing of their songs and read it to remember all these ones. that's most of them anyway.

for the encore they played "vindicated" and I felt bad that at chris's favorite part of the drums, the drummer dropped a freaking stick. lol. then they played "hands down" which is a song I hate for personal reasons and I think that most of the lyrics are gay but I sang to it anyway because why not? after the show I chugged a gatorade, then me, chris, and nick went to exxon so they could get more drinks. I took them to chris's to get something then dropped them off at dave's. came home and showered and went to bed at 1 am. woke up at 10 and realized I missed church but I must have really needed the sleep because I never sleep in. my favorite thing on the way home was on the T, chris said something about hating women and I was like "hey." and he was like, "you're different. you're tiffany." and I said "you're calling me a boy?" and he said "no." then nick said "just be glad he doesn't hate you." and chris nodded. so I really am one of the boys and I'm fine with that. :o) it's better than being considered a typical girl, which I am not (at least not all the time lol).

unfortunately I'm not just a casual dashboard fan now because they put on such a good show. I actually really like them. I still like to make fun of them though because it's so easy. :oP blah.

my mom is taking me to ikea today to go dorm shopping. woo. that makes me happy! what doesn't make me happy is changing out of my bathrobe into real clothes. it seriously depresses me. I like the morning but I hate the afternoon and I'm rarely happy again until nighttime because that's when I have something to do. I'm weird.

later!
