Author's Note: So... I started at two in the morning after having randomly rewritten the story of how eltea and I met noir-style, and then I figured I should take that and run while I had it. Sort of. Ish. And I started at two in the morning, which says it all.

Haven't read it, though the Wikipedia summary makes me believe you are very probably right! 8D

I actually really love the tone of this - the voice, the atmosphere, and the bizarre (in the best way!), flights-of-fancy figurative language. Especially the people that look like an oil drill coughed them up and the sidewalk like a dragon’s spine; it’s a really beautiful piece. :)
