[ The Professor is wandering around Violet City because of picking someone up and all that. Ah, is that Merlin over there? It does seem so! Well, might as well give the good man a greeting after not speaking to him for some time. ]

Ah, Merlin! It is good to see yo-- [ Aaaaaaaaaand Merlin is starting to be lifted up and then fall into the lake-- GOOD LORD MERLIN ASDLKFJD LAYTON IS RUSHING OVER TO THE LAKE BECAUSE OH GOD WHAT IF YOU DROWN ] Merlin!

[After a moment of...shocked sinking, Merlin comes to his senses and manages to propel himself to the surface. He flounders, gulping in air, and spots the Professor standing there.]

Pro-professor?! [The surprise is enough to make him lose his concentration, and he disappears back under the water, spluttering]

[ The Professor lets out a relieved sigh once he sees that Merlin has gotten back up to the surface but that soon turns into just something what asl;dkfjasl;dkfjd might sound like if someone has said it.

Well, no time to waste, good man! The Professor just throws off his hat and coat off to the side to jump into the water. It's been a very long time since he has gone swimming but he thinks he can still pull Merlin out of the lake and to shore. He sure hopes so or two men are drowning in this lake. ]

[No, professah, don't do it! Merlin resurfaces with a bit of gurgling, practically choking when he sees the professor's joined him in the water]

Y-you didn't have to do that. [He bobs there, spitting out the water in his mouth]

[ Oh, it looks like Merlin has resurfaced quite fine. Well... now he feels a bit foolish. At least this now confirms that the Professor does remember how to swim since he's treading water here. ]
