Contemplating a sign-up. Mm, yeah, nope. The effort I'd expend would almost certainly not be worth the return. Plus, same fandom, wildly different interests between me and the rest of the signups. Frankly, I (and my recip) would be far better off if I just write happymakingfic for
femmeremix.
Reading through some of my profic, trying to find a decent piece to submit for the workshop.
The problem is:
a) length,
b) finishedness,
c) do I want to finish this story?
I have stories in Children's, YA, Urban Fantasy, and Sci-Fi.
Children's is a 5 book series, 1st book under rewrite, the others are kind of blurry outlines with nothing more than the 'theme' of the books.
YA is the first in a multibook series, but it runs off the trope of "sixteen year old girl discovers she's special, encounters boy already in special world, they have adventures together and (in another eight years or so) they get together"). And I'm more about the adventures than the romance right now. (She's 16, he's 21. Yes, this is an issue for me and for them as characters.)
Urban Fantasy: basically the children's book characters, except what happens when they're grown up. I have a much better grip on what happens over this series than I do over the children's series. It's more my ouvre than the other genres, except that I'm not sure I can do the sex. (Yes, I know, I can do sex in fanfic; somehow it's different when it's profic.)
Sci-Fi: starts off as paramilitary action-adventure, develops a sci-fi angle with Inception-style 'dreaming'. (This was written in 2004, was complete at 20K and I didn't know what to do with it. 20K is "novella-length", which was unsaleable to magazines, and unsaleable to pro publishers at the time. I didn't want to extend it - the story was complete and to add anything would feel like one of those 'second movies' where they've continued the story when they really should have stopped.
IDEK. Indecision is awful.
