Five is for Friday

beatrice_otter asked for Five pieces of art Sam Carter noticed while on missions

1. A sinuous pattern of blue and scarlet in the entry hall of an early planet they visited. It was right in front of the Stargate, and looked almost like a field of poppies set against the summer sky, although Daniel went on at great lengths about the anthropology of abstract art in non-Earth cultures.

2. The sculpture of the Morrigan in the Goa'uld hall on Tethis - carved from the stone floor, rising out of it like Aphrodite - if Aphrodite had been helmed and greaved and holding a giant longsword in her hand.

3. The erotic art on the walls in the Crahibra marketplace in Pegasus. It was kind of hard to miss, although Teyla walked past without even seeing it. Sam arched an eyebrow and made a note to tell Daniel about it.

4. The odd square tile pattern embedded in the ruins at P8F-045 - it looked...familiar. Kind of like a barcode, only obviously not. (It wasn't until she got back from Atlantis that she realised it was a QR code. On a planet that had been in ruins for about 6,000 years. Even Daniel couldn't explain that one. And McKay's suggestions all involved the Doctor.)

5. The design on the archway entrance to a Hebran temple gave her the creeps and it took her most of the visit to realise that it was the same scribing pattern on the focal point of the za'tarc device.

elanya asked for Five times Coulson cut himself shaving.

1. The first time he tried with his grandfather's razor. Later that morning, at SHIELD, someone joked about him going up against Wolverine. (Years later, confronting Logan in Madripoor, Coulson walked away without a scratch - which was definitely up on the idiot agent two years earlier who thought 'guns blazing' was a good idea for confrontation with Wolverine.)

2. After a four-week stint in Africa in the 90s, trying to hunt down some bioterrorists. He was that exhausted, but he had a meeting with the president, and his hands were shaking so badly from exhaustion that he cut himself with the safety razor.

3. Madripoor. The morning after he saw what Maria had wrought in the city, and realised that the solemn-eyed young woman he and every other agent had practically forgotten in the agent intake of 2002 had turned into a scarily competent woman capable of coming down on a city like Apocalypse.

4. The morning before he met Steve Rogers for reals. Just a little nick, though.

5. Trying to shave himself after Loki put a spear through his chest. Maria, who'd come to visit him, told him not to be an idiot and did the job herself.

anr asked for Five times Maria kissed Steve.

1. On a dare. She lost a poker round and had to kiss the next person who walked in the door as her penance. Steve came in with cookies. She took the cookies out of his hands, put them on the sideboard, backed him up against the wall and sucked the breath out of him. The part that Natasha, Carol, and Janet find hilarious is that when she let go of Steve and tried to back away, he reached for her again.

2. The fakeout makeout. A festival in south Spain where they were following a lead on a possible HYDRA resurgence, and she was straddled on Steve's lap like a couple of crass American tourists, giving orders to the operatives and trying to ignore that his hands were locked in the small of her back. Maria spotted someone she knows and thought she'd been made, so she kissed Steve to try to deflect attention. He kissed her back.

3. In a crowded bar one night out with SHIELD agents while they were collecting drinks. She claimed her mouth slipped. Steve observed that her fist in his shirt, pulling him down would appear to give the lie to that.

4. The night he gave her a lift home on the chopper after dropping past one of his favourite takeout places for dinner. When she climbed off and said thanks, he said that if she wanted, she could kiss him. "I never kiss on the first date." "Oh." "I'll make an exception for you." Her neighbour complimented her on the floorshow later. She reminded him that she knows where he lives.

5. On her couch. With his hands under her shirt. "Did kids do this back in your day?" "I suspect kids have been doing this since the stone age. And we're not kids." "I noticed that."

geneeste asked for Five times Sam and Teal'c were close.

1. Professionally: The first time Sam realised Teal’c waited for her to finish dealing with an attack instead of trying to protect her - the moment she realised he respected her as a soldier and a fighter.

2. As teammates: The first time Jack and Daniel had an argument that turned into an ad infinitum - “Did not!" “Did too!" And then all the times after.

3. In Interests: The first time Sam showed Teal’c Star Wars. And then Empire Strikes Back. And then Return Of The Jedi.

4. Physically: That time they were on the run back through the Gate, and had to take a running dive to get through. Jack, Daniel, and Teal’c landed on the grating. Sam landed on Teal’c.

5. Emotionally: Sam breaking down on Teal’c’s shoulder when Maybourne and Jack vanish through the portal.
