One of the women at Bible study has started 'counting her blessings' - making a list of all the wonderful, happy, and good things in her life with the idea of giving thanks to God for everything she has instead of focusing on all the bad stuff (as it's so easy to do).
Accentuating the positive - not a bad idea.
It has been a downer year for me in some aspect - less productive in writing, less assured in my abilities to write well, losing my job, losing my cat, being unemployed well past when I hoped to have a new job.
Still, there are a lot of things to be thankful for.
If nothing else, the people who texted, Twittered, Facebooked, and LJ'd me a birthday wish. (Plus that lovely LJ gift sent to me by
mustbethursday! When did I get a snail and a toy car from
gaffsie, pray? How come I didn't notice this before??)
*hugs*
I had a good day - steak and eggs brekky, then off to a quilting group - the
Sydney Southern Cross Quilters Group (North Shore division) at a pub down the road. There'll be pics up on the site later. Pork Belly for lunch with the nicest crackling ever, and a kind of...apple-vanilla custard sauce. I know that sounds weird but it really worked.
The quilting group was productive: I got one side of the quilt I'm working on bound, and I'll do the rest in spurts over the next couple of weeks. This one is for me, and has been finished since about 2008, but I just never put the binding on and finished it. I figured I could do it on my birthday, at least!
An hour at the gym, working off the lunch (sort of), and then a little moment to sit down and write the next section of that
sheppard_hc fic which is due by the end of the 7th. *coughs*
And I'm just about to head off to the RSL for dinner, drinks, and a Trivia Night with my friends from hockey. I'll drink a little and get a taxi home, so it should be all good!
I've got lots of thinky thoughts about turning 35 and all the things I have and haven't done this year, but for the moment, I'll settle for hugging you all and saying 'thank you for being in my life'!
