I'm a touch curious, I have to admit: are 'faith-based' abstinence programs ones related to religious organisations? As compared to people who are abstinent for other reasons? (Practical, personal belief, asexual, etc.)

And I'm particularly glad to hear from someone who's lived in non-western countries, because I know that there's a big gap between even Australian and US sex-education lines. All I can say is, thank heavens the Australian government hasn't started supporting abstinence-only programs.
My own upbringing is heavily Christian and my mother was sitting me down and telling me about sex (with help from a book about sex called 'Where Did I Come From' - it's a by-word in Australian adolescence of the 80s-early 90s) by at least 10.
