Nothing New Under The Sun - gen - PG
An amusing walk through John's mind, with extra added crack. This is about as close to cracktastic as you can get without actually being cracktastic, and I'm impressed!"As thrilling as the remains of a Stone Age society, a planet whose only worthwhile line of trade is a flavorless potato, and a village with a leader so boring I'd recommend him as a cure for insomnia were, I'd be really, really happy if this planet didn't turn out to be such a colossal waste of time as our last three missions."
Here Only To Wither - John/Teyla - R
Long, plotty Teyla-centric drama with a John/Teyla thread all the way through. She stood over him, his life rolling through her in a fierce flush of energy, her expression tense with the struggle to accept what she had just done. She had killed before, in cold blood and hot. This was different.
Missing Man Formation - John/Teyla/Rodney/Ronon - PG13
OT4, angsty, character death, but awesome writing.Although she thought she hid her reaction, John was an observant man and she saw him wince. "I am well," she said firmly, moving to join Rodney at his side. "And you will be well again soon." Maybe, if she said it enough, she could will it into happening. That night, Teyla curled up in between Rodney and Ronon, listening to their soft snores until the pale light of morning filtered through the curtains.
The First Commandment Of Pegasus - John/Teyla
Action adventure and crisis and drama all in one story, with Teyla in peril and the guys being a team and both wanting to stay behind and needing to go after her. It was written for me and I'd love to see more of this kind of fic in Atlantis. (Albeit, more Teyla getting the boys out of peril would be nice, too!) I did get a little distracted by the misspelling in the main header, though. He's always gone back when no one else would, when everyone said it was too dangerous. But he's a lot older now and smart enough to realize that most of those half-cocked rescues ended badly. He's the one giving the orders now and assessing threats. Being the one who stays has taken a backseat to making sure everyone lives.
And I think they're done! There may be a few last-minute entries, but the
sga_santa is done for the year!
I read everything except my trio of Do Not Want, and for the most part, while they were all well-written in some way or another, I couldn't recommend them all so I picked my favourites. I think I got them all. Given that my f-list seems to have more...eclectic tastes than the mainstream (ie. not just Shep/McKay or Shep/Weir 4evah), I hope you like the stories I've been reccing...and that you're leaving feedback!
Merry Christmas, folks!
