17. A trope you’ll never, ever write for. requested by

I have yet to write an A/B/O trope, and I'm pretty sure that'll never happen, although one never knows. I'm not a big fan of biological determinism, and although it could maybe be subverted, it would probably take more effort than I could be bothered expending!

22. Do you listen to anything while you write? requested by

Mostly I don't. I like quiet so I can think and someone singing at me just gets distracting. Also, music has a lot of associations for me, so that can also divert my thoughts from what I should be writing to whatever mood the song has me in.

That said, in more recent years, I've started writing to soundtracks - Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End was my go-to for dramatic music. Then I moved to videogame music on Spotify, or YouTube playlists for epic fantasy or sad and emotional music.

Sometimes I find music that works perfectly with a mood or a relationship or a series that I have in mind, and I started putting together playlists for both listening to and writing.

The M&P Conn-Pod Playlist is full of music that I imagined Maria and Pepper liking, collectively and individually, as they shift from strangers to friends to co-pilots in my 'Fire And Ice Pacific Rim AU'.

For my fic 'The Other Side Of Infinity', I needed a whole variety of songs that fit the various points in the story, and pieced together the other side of infinity playlist on Spotify by listening to everything from film music to gaming soundtracks. There are sonography notes all through the story, although probably the most powerful is 'Breaking Through' which is the music marking the group's trek up to the Vormir peak and the confrontation there. Still gives me shivers listening to it.

Lately for writing, I've just been listening to various music mixes: "1 hour epic music mix - the best of Audiomachine" is one of the current YT videos open, and the other is "BRAVERY - Epic Powerful Cinematic Music mix". They're a little touch and go, but overall generally helpful.

Still to come: 30, 3, 19, and 5
