Tomorrow, I get to sit in a tin tube with IDK how many other people for a...four hour flight? Not counting getting there via public transport (two trains).
In spite of zero community transmission across the country, I am nervous. There's always the possibility of people breaking quarantine or an unexpected resurgence like New Zealand had.
Unfortunately our quarantine process are totally not managed by the federal government who take no responsibility for anything while doing dreadful photoshoots like it's all an image problem and not a content and substantiation issue and there've been a few "releasing people into the wild" situations, which have luckily not caused breaches.
Anyway. Today I have done various gardening things in the morning. Cooking things around lunchtime. And sewing things in the evening, to the point where I have reached the end of my day and realised I have written nothing today.
I did watch a really great video about Rogue One and its plot failings (as much as the video maker loved the movie) and have realised a couple of things about the current story which need to be remedied.
Anyway, the plan for Darwin was to see family, be quiet, do some writing. Except my cousin and his fam gave me a voucher for...IDK how much off. But they were given it by NT govt, presumably to kickstart the economy again after the COVID quiet of the year. And I am eyeing some flights over Kakadu right now.
I arrive Monday afternoon, and I have Tuesday and Wednesday complete days, leaving Thursday lunchtime. I should like to spend at least one night with the fam, preferably two? Otherwise my idea of a holiday is a combo of sitting back somewhere new and just relaxing and DOING ALL THE THINGS.
Also, there is a brewery that I was in last time that I would like to go back to. They had some good brews there and I should like to try it again.
Damn. I'd better check the weather forecast up in Darwin. Could be bad...
